What is going on with Nordstrom's shipping?

It is taking a minimum of ten full days for an order to be delivered. I have had similar experiences with Nordstrom Rack, but never with Nordstorm.

Currently, I have three different orders with Nordstrom, two have been shipped, and one is still waiting to be shipped.

If I had ordered these products during NAS, a ten-day shipping window might have been understandable, but I ordered the blouse on July 2, which is well ahead of NAS. I ordered the other items on July 8 (the white jeans have shipped; the bras have not even shipped yet).

Amazon Prime may have spoiled me. Or it could be that a 10-to-11 day shipping window is ridiculous for any merchant.

Two of these three items are HEWIs. The white jeans were a mere whim. I wish I had thought to check Amazon before ordering from Nordstrom.

No idea what's up with Nordstrom, but I can commiserate. My last few Amazon orders took ages to ship... I don't have Prime, but usually you didn't need to pay extra for quick delivery because the standard was already quick.

I am not sure why the shipping takes that long but that's the same exercise bra I use and I love it. Some iteration of the Fiona has been in my gear for the past eight years. I haven't had that trouble with shipping from Nordstrom. Sometimes I order and the item appears the next day, other times I order and it takes longer.

They may not keep all their online items in a warehouse, or even in the store. I have received some direct from the manufacturer, or brand. That typically takes longer. Sometimes I get an item shipped from a store across country and sometimes it is closer. I can tell because there is a receipt. Sometimes it seems to be a warehouse item.

….i'm thinking that part of it was the holiday weekend…and then beyond that, as Staysfit says, i'm quessing that the blouse and jeans are coming from nordies stores, and that has slowed the shipping……

When ordering from Nordstrom recently, one item arrived swiftly as usual and the other took much longer than expected - I noticed it shipped from Utah (I am outside of DC), so assumed that accounted for the long shipping time. Would be interested to know if there's something beyond that accounting for the delays. Hope that your items arrive quickly and work out!

It always feels so long when we are waiting, doesn't it?

In Canada we are used to slower ship times in general. The rare times I order from the US, it takes weeks, because it has to get across the border; even the "BorderFree" stuff takes extra time. The shortest ship time I've ever had from J. Crew, for instance, is one week. 10 days to 2 weeks is more typical.

But even within Canada some things take a long time. Zara's usually best; I get my orders within 4 days as a rule. Gap/BR can be relatively quick (about 4 or 5 days) or really, really slow. The Bay is also all over the place. Ditto for Aritzia and Club Monaco.

It is especially hard when you are waiting for a HEWI or you have an event you're trying to buy for.

I expect the holiday weekend plays a role here, and maybe all energies are on preparation for the sale? Sorry you have having to wait on that beautiful blouse.

Commiserating with you Sterling. I have had the same problem with Nordstrom over the past few months. I think it takes longer if the item has been pulled from a store rather than coming directly from the warehouse. (Perhaps that is more common with end of season stock?) I, too, have gotten spoiled by rapid delivery from Amazon (and I do not even have Prime)… as well as Zappos and, recently, Macy's.

YES. Nordies takes a week to ship at this point. But J.Crew takes even longer. We are so very spoiled with Zappos and Amazon.

A week or two ago I ordered four tops. Two arrived the next day! The other two took over a week. The first two came from a store in the next state. The later ones came from a warehouse in the midwest I think. So it just depends, I think.

Also, the estimated time is often off; recently my package has been delivered a day or two earlier than the Nordstrom prediction. The best estimate is on the link to the actual UPS site.

I ordered sandals on June 5. On June 10, I got an email that they shipped (no tracking number). On June 13, I got an email from Customer Care saying that the item had been shipped from a store and they were checking to see if I got it because there was no tracking number (perhaps they noticed I was checking my order status online). I gave it a few more days and responded that the sandals never arrived. They set up a free replacement order immediately and also offered me the opportunity for an immediate refund, if I preferred (great service!). The item was backordered, but I decided to stick it out, and they finally arrived on July 7. When I opened the box, the soles and the footbed of the sandals looked like they had been worn! I was truly disappointed at this point and returned them the next day.

Yes, I have also had really extended shipping times with Nordstroms; actually for the last year or so. I think this is their new "inventory" system, which keeps various items in locations all over the place. Most of the time, if I order 3 items, all come from different locations, none taking less than 7 days, and at least 10 days for most. I really really dislike it, and it has gotten me shopping for the same merch from other retailers because I hate waiting. My retail environment here is extremely limited, so online ordering has been my norm for over 12 years; but the shipping times have made the experience frustrating. These recent experiences will no doubt color my desire to buy from NAS

I guess I am lucky that I live in the midwest... Nordstrom's main DC is in IA so I get my packages very quickly. If they're shipping from a store, then it takes longer...

Crazy isn't it? I was so surprised it happened with Nordstrom. I'll keep shopping with them though…maybe it was an isolated experience and their return policy is good.
