Hello! It's good to be back & see everyone. I started capsule shopping last summer when I was completely overwhelmed by my tiny, under stocked wardrobe and my very full substitute schedule. (I think I use 'capsule' a little idiosyncratically, because all the items don't necessarily go together, and I never rely solely on what I've just bought.) But there is always a seasonal point of view and usually a few colors or silhouettes I'm really feeling at that moment. Also I'm a little boring. You'll rarely catch me at the pointy vanguard of a trend. And finally, I'm cheap. I stick to middle tier in terms of quality and look for sales. Here's what I've bought for my spring semester:
1) A watercolor stripe mixed print silk shift...Yes! A dress! Sundance sale. Not for special ed subbing, no. For a wedding I'm attending in FL. Since I'm 'dress autistic' it has no buttons, neck placket, back zipper, or side zipper. It's a popover, the only kind of dress I'll actually wear.
2) A tee that thinks it's a blouse... It has a gorgeous drapey woven front. And the back is split with an inset of orange racing stripe. Love!! Anthro sale. Not wearing this to the classroom either because after FL I'm heading to NOLA and want something cute to wear out for drinks & music.
3) An army green pencil skirt. Angie surveyed army green pieces in Nov or Dec and I added it to my list. Joes jeans via 6pm. At first I thought it was a tad short for class, but didn't mind because it was replacing a pair of worn out shorts. But if I wear it slouched just below my waist it's even fine for school. Very cute. Love it with black, brights, and white.
4) Vegan gladiators by BC. I'm going cheaper on open toe sandals these days since they're weekend only wear. These are comfy for walking. Good with skirts & cropped pants.
5) A drapey, substantial tee. Aritzia. Love their tees. Similar color to the Anthro one but different sleeve means I can wear it in different weather but still use similar accessories.
6&7) James Perse cotton pocket tissue tees in pool and coral. Classroom basics + fun FL colors. Deeply discounted @ TJMaxx. (Do people really spend $70 on these things???)
8) Lucky brand cropped wide leg jeans. I love these. Wearing them a lot.
9) Vans snake print slip ons in gray. Fun for summer; comfortable for teaching.
10) Still on the fence about this Eileen Fisher viscose top. Love the sunset-y color but am afraid it will be too short in front.
That's all I've got! Total comes to just under $500.00.
