What I Wore Today / PSA on great ponte peplum top

Just in case a really beautiful medium-weight knit peplum top is on anyone's wish list, there is a GREAT one by Bobeau at Nordstrom right now in black, grey, and some beautiful jewel tones: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bo.....sultback=0

I couldn't resist it in peacock blue since it's the perfect fit and length to wear over pencil skirts, and below I've posted my first attempt at wearing it to work. I'm definitely back in jewel-tone mode this fall, but I can see my "spicy" colors from spring and summer working well with this shade.

Whoa! Look at you! I LOVE this, Kari! You look fab in the peplum over pencil! I never thought I would want a peplum top but you have changed my mind. I may have to give this top a try. Stunning!

Over the past two weeks, I have tried on every peplum top availble in stores where I live. Sadly the one I liked the most (a ponte) was an awful fit with me seemingly falling somewhere in between sizes. Also the peplum on most seems to fall to low for my waist. So yesterday I decided the peplum top wasn't for me:(

BUT perhaps there is still hope:)

IMHO the fit is particularly important on a top like this and this one looks like it was made for you. The skirts is also lovely, is that new purchase too?

I just had to post my agreement- you look gorgeous! With your hair, the color is amazing, the top looks like it was made for you, and the skirt with it is simply perfect! Wow!

Deborah - the skirt is a new purchase too. It's a Halogen skirt from Nordstrom. It's supposed to be a midi but with my very high waist it ends up being not-quite-so-midi due to the structure of the skirt.
Deb, it runs a little small (I sized up) but it's also a knit, so it will stretch a little.

Sylvie - does wearing a black pencil skirt to work and *then* realizing that the seam had ripped open after arriving home (and hoping like crazy that no one had seen it), or accidentally dyeing one of my favorite dresses in the wash (fortunately, it came out), count? Those are all very recent missteps.
Lately, due to time constraints this year, I've been posting only my favorite outfits on the forum, and for the most part those that I'm not crazy about haven't been up. Maybe I should do that sometime. The "blooper reel" of sorts! Because I assure you, they are present.

I think that the cut of this top is simply a lot more compelling in person, and I do think that it suits curves (and surprisingly, my very short waist too) surprisingly well. I was so excited that it worked! I have the black lace version on order too.
