What I miss from 1996

Speaking of nostalgia... saw this on Pinterest. Ok, so I sorta feel nothing happened in the 90s, but I do really miss the waistcoat and matching pants thing. I guess in the 70s, this sort of coordinates outfit would have had wide lapels, which is not the same thing at all to me. Why did this go away? Lol

It looks pretty put together and sleek - I like it a lot. I've used to do short/fitted vest ( stripy ) with black pants or black slim jeans in 2000s.
You would look smashing in that outfit from Pinterest!

I had something like that in the '80s. It was cream corduroy and the pants came with suspenders! Boy, did I love that outfit. It made me feel intrepid for some reason.

I’m a huge fab of any thing matchy matchy. And I’m glad it seems to be coming back. That and monochrome dressing, which I never realized went away until I read it was back lol

I like the look of a vest but somehow don’t reach for them when I own them. Too fussy perhaps? Hard to fit with a large chest?

Gah, the trends in those links make me glad I’m DYOT these days. The only “trend” in there I can relate to much is colored leather. And maybe Bermuda shorts if they’re not pleated and business-y.

I wore a burgundy matching vest and pants look for my 11th grade school photo in 1978. I was all over the menswear suited looks back in the day. LOL!!

Well I have a vest from a thrift shop in 2015. I was going to consign it this winter...maybe I should reconsider? It’s the patchwork 70s-looking one.

I had at least two waistcoat suits (with long midi skirts) in the 1990s. I might go there again......

I love the 1960s wallpaper flowers trend featured and would also love to have more polka dots.

I hope fitted waistcoats come back and filter into my size. I’ve been on the hunt for them for about 5 years and found exactly one (and their largest size is a little small unless I’m on the smallest end for my fluctuating body.) I would cheer to see this come back.

Oh! I have a thrifted beaded one I bought a number of years ago. I don't wear it because it sheds beads. Maybe I should search more closely for the source of the leak and then start wearing it.
