These apply to me, of course - I know that those who bat for this Team may not feel the same.

1. It takes time to be polished! You ladies must have it down to a science. I had to get my hair in reasonable shape, make sure my stockings were straight, polish my shoes, iron my skirt, and remember earrings! Not to mention the time spent pulling together the elements of a completely polished look.

2. Polished, like RATE, is in the details. I took three photos before realizing my sleeves were scrunched and my stockings were crooked. And that little piece of hair flipping up is still there.

3. My style has evolved away from polished. I used to be much more polished with my workwear, and I still do have to look ultra-presentable often enough. But I have learned to do PRATE well, and even back in the day, I would have been polished technically but still frumpy. YLF has helped enormously with that!

4. Shoes! I only had two pairs to choose from, these or the nude Tsubos which are not appropriate now that it's 35 degrees out. My suede boots should be arriving to solve that problem. Shoes and hair were my biggest hurdles.

5. My haircut makes all the difference here. If left alone, it would be completely polished, but I've chopped and razored it into RATEness, so getting it back to polished is a huge effort.

In general, I feel fine but not totally myself, although I'm used to dressing up for court and did have the elements in my wardrobe. It's really the shoes - I need at least one item to be RATE for me to feel completely normal, and boots are the default for me.

I'm really glad I did this and plan to try again soon. Much respect to Team Polished! Over to you...
