What I came home with and a little, little problem

I saw these yesterday while window-shopping just for fun. I had to try them on and they fit perfectly. Since last year I've been craving for a Doc Marteens style shoe but I found the original shoe to be too tough for me (plus I dig the taller style, which is too expensive for a caprice). These are not cheap either, but oh well. The leather is fantastic, the insoles can be changed, everything is perfect. Even the original color. If only I had a place for green shoes in my wardrobe.

I bought them thinking they were BLUE. And the SA reassured me that they were. And they were, under the light inside the store. Out in the sunlight, and they are a rich, beautiful very dark turquoise, if that makes any sense. And while I could make a blue pair work with my denim pieces and black, I'm not sure these work with anything apart from black and browns (and I don't own brown clothing).

I can't get a refund but can take them back to the store and they will give me some receipt so that I can buy something else when I find something that I like. And I don't think I'll have a problem with that since they usually sell very comfy AND quirky stuff. But I like these so much!

What should I do? They only have them in red (and it's a similar boot, not this one exactly. I don't think I would dare wear a red boot).

Um, send them to me? I would kill for boots in this color. It's the best color in the world! (What is the brand by the way?)

Seriously, though, I think this type of teal goes with absolutely everything. (Well, maybe not pastels, but I don't wear those). I actually prefer a greenish blue with denim because blue blue with denim is too matchy and uniform. It's a warmer tone than straight blue if that makes sense, so try it with more autumn colors like burgundy or other red shades.

I absolutely agree you can wear these with any rich autumn colours. Why not you try styling them with a few things you don't think will work?

They'll also be beautiful with grey, with deep greens, and I'm pretty sure with burgundy or purple. They're fabulous, and like Diana I want to know what brand they are!

I think this may be an opportunity for you to enjoy playing with a new color and exploring what it actually "harmonizes" with. Follow your gut instinct to love these and go for it!

I think it is an amazing color! It looks pretty dark so it should work with black and dark grey - and brown and white and purple...actually I would be pressed very hard to find a color they cannot work with!
Just play in your wardrobe with them and I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised!

Wait, what is the problem now? Gorgeous boots, a glimmer of color, they feel fabulous... KEEP! For gosh sakes! It's fun to play with a hint of color, and they are so subtle (your text lead me to expect something garish, you silly!). Jeepers keepers.

I would've guesses they were blue until you said they were green. I say keep. They're rich enough and dark enough I think they'll be pretty versatile. I have a pair of Steve Madden boots that I thought were black. When I got home they were halfway between black and green. Some people are convinced they're green, some say black. I wear them as if they were both. I get compliments on them all the time, and since the color is ambiguous, no one has ever said they don't work as either color.

I have read that teal is a neutral color that goes with anything because it is part cool and part warm. These are beautiful. I've never had a boot in this style and never expect to, but the pics have me thinking of what I could do with them. I would love to pair them with cobalt, oxblood, aubergine, charcoal, ink blue, and olive, as well as denim and black.

I find the color to be AMAZING! I think they would go with almost anything. They are so dark, almost black, so very neutral looking, but the turquoise is just so pretty. I would keep!

Thank you, enablers! I'm meeting mom (aka the expert of color) in an hour or so and I hope she will help me with my wardrobe and color issues (color is hard for me since I am very conservative when it comes to color combos). You have convinced me quite a lot so far though, I must say.

Oh, and my wardrobe colors for winter tend to be black, greys and creams/whites for neutrals, red, purple and blue. I know I have several pairs of brown shoes and wear them only when I feel like making an effort.

1st, thank you so much for introducing me to a new brand, that's one of the things that i really like about YLF.
these are great boots, and if you wouldn't have told me they were turquoise, i would never have known. i agree with the others, these are so dark, i think you just think of them as a fall neutral, and wear with anything/everything.

YAY. I think they are unique, interesting and stylish. I don't know your color palette, but I have a feeling this could function somewhat as a neutral. I think you should trust your initial gut feeling.

I love them, too! I'd wear that teal color with all of the wardrobe colors you listed. And I do. I have a teal coat that I wear over jeans all the time. It's not a match at all, but I feel great in the combo. I wear the same teal coat over the colors you've described; it's a very versatile color that plays well with just about everything.
I hope you'll keep them and wear the heck out of them.

If you simply don't like them, that's one thing. I understand individual likes and poison eyes and so it's okay if they just aren't what you want.

But if you're concerned about how they LOOK--well, as above--they look great! Give off a deep, rich vibe. Please play in closet and see what you think. Also if you had to, you could polish them to a blacker color, but I would not change them.
Since your mom is the color expert, see what she thinks about using this color to be less matchy-matchy and add richness and interest to your outfits. That's something I'm trying to do and looking at lots of photos of outfits I think look interesting and it turns out there is a great use of subtle color and texture differences in clothing, footwear, bag, jewelry etc that all comes together. I think these boots could work that way, too.
