What hat styles do you wear?

Berets are signature, and I like a fedora. I have tried ball caps at different times, but they don’t work for me. Beanies didn’t work when my hair was short, but work now that it is longer. Specs make some styles tricky, but folks wear sunnies and hats with aplomb, so what’s the trick?

I’m a hat person. I wear all sorts: cloches, beanies, caps, bowlers, wide-brimmed, fascinators, visors. Just not baseball caps. I’m not sporty enough for a baseball cap.

Bucket hats, basic tuques with a bit of slouch , fedoras and big wide brim sun hats . Wish I could wear a baseball cap but I look comically bad in one . I like berets too but they are often headache inducing .

Wide brim sun hats and felt fedoras in the winter used to be my signature, until masks took their place. Hope to go back to hats soon!

I used to dislike hats when my hair was shorter, but now it’s shoulder-length so I feel like less of a dork with a hat on.

I wear beanies with and without poms in the winter, and baseball hats in the summer when walking/exercising (to protect my hair color from the sun). Last summer I bought my first straw/sunhat but didn’t really have anywhere to wear it. Maybe that will change this summer. Or I’ll wear it on the patio while sipping a gin and tonic.

A wide brim sun hat in the summer is a necessity. I like newsboy caps and felt hats for winter. The only style of hat I don't like is a cloche. I don't wear hats as much as I used to because my hair is very closely cropped and they just don't look that great on me.

I have the same short-haired problem. I can look like I am bald when I wear a hat. All the same I own quite a lot, the oldest one is a man’s green corduroy cap from the 70s that I bought for myself as a teenager. I’m now wondering if I have liked olive way longer than I realised!
I wear ordinary caps ( are they all called baseball caps??) in the summer for my walks, larger brimmed sun hats at the beach, an occasional fancier hat for dressing up, and beanies ( is that the same as toques?) for warmth in winter. No pom-poms any more, not for decades.
I have one cloche I bought for Art Deco weekend in 2014.

This thread needs more photos! I love hats, and they are great for me because I freeze/sunburn easily. I have a large head and relatively bold features, so I need my hats to be wide brimmed or chunky. Anything Sarah Jessica Parker would wear, basically. My current favorites are curdoroy sixpences and russian faux fur winter hats. Recent photo of my "train conductor"-hat, corduroy paperboy/sixpence.

I am not a hat person. I feel self-conscious in most hats apart from baseball caps in summer and beanies in winter, which I see as functional necessities.

I love hats but when my hair is really short, they don’t look so good. Still, I wear baseball hats or straw hats for sun protection while at the beach or hiking. But I have trouble with hats in the urban context because I feel I should remove them indoors, and then my hair is sticking out and flattened and looking ridiculous (maybe just another problem with short hair?)

Right now I’m favoring bucket hats, but i also wear and like baseball caps, and wore this beanie hat more most of my winter walks this year.

I have a beanie and a fedora, but only wear them if it's really cold or snowing. For Faire I have a chainmaile headdress and a feather facinator
I thought of getting a big sunhat while in FL, because the sun was so bright, but not sure how much I'd use it here.

With my short hair I don't look good in hats, but I wear them all the time when hiking, kayaking, or out in the sun. I prefer hats that are fun, goofy, and/or colorful - maybe because it draws attention to the hat and not the head under it?! My favorite cold weather hats are knit or fleece and have double pom poms, paw prints, bright colors; and my favorite warm weather hats are colorful with wide brims for shielding out the sun. I generally don't wear straw hats because they make my head itch, and I prefer warm weather hats with a sewn-in sweatband.

I can only wear hats for function, not for fashion ... I feel weird in them, although I admire them on others! I like straw fedora style hats for sun, toques for cold weather, and ball caps for bad hair days

Like many others, hats are only for practical protection against snow, cold, rain or sun, not for fashion. I’ve had to give up on civilized hairdos since I gave in to wearing hats for weather conditions. I often wear double hats, and here I’m wearing a brimmed cap under a knit beanie, as it was snowing and very wet. The brim helps keep precipitation off my glasses. When running in very cold, I wear a fleece ear warmer under another knit hat. When walking in the winter, I would often wear a knit hat as well as a hood.

Summer hats to keep the sun off are a must as are winter hats that will stay on when the wind is blowing. My head is a bit too small for most hats so, when I find one, I grab it. I need to find a fancy hat to wear to the plethora of teas in this place. Covid has prevented them for over a year and this spring will be no exception, but we can hope for next year or maybe some this fall. They are a popular and fun fundraiser for many groups.

I love hats! I have a long face, large head, and very thick hair so brim/crown proportions are key for me. I often have to wear mens' hats to find the right fit. I don't like any that add height to my already-long head, so low-profile hats work best.

For summer, I have a rancher style sun hat (find #1) that I like, and am on the hunt for one with a larger brim. I also have a couple of low-profile ball caps that I like, on hot days when I need to keep my hair off of my neck.

For winter, I like beanies - but they have to be slouchy or poofy in the back (find #2) , otherwise I look like I have a pencil for a head.

I would love to find a floppy, low-crown, woven hat for summer (similar to find #3) or generously cut wool panama hat (similar to find #4)...

I dislike hats. My head is big and most don't fit me. And they always seem to make my head look even bigger. However, I do wear them out in strong sun.

Slim cat, I want your shapka!
I avoid hats if I can help it. I wear a beanie in the winter out of necessity. Really need a summer hat but can’t find one that would fit my small head. Want to check kids’ stores this year

I have a larger than average head so finding hats that fit is difficult. I finally started wearing men’s hats. I wear then for warmth, sun protection, or just to protect me eyes.

I love hats. I have functional wool touques for winter, fedoras, sunhats and a corduroy conductors hat similar to Synne's.

I love hats, various styles. However, berets are the ones I find most easy to wear (and to pack). For the last 50 years, I have never been without at least one beret.

I love a good hat and think it’s a shame that we don’t all routinely wear them anymore.l think that they add gravitas,l always get treated better when l am wearing a hat!(Prehaps not my novelty Xmas hats though).
l have to have a wide brim and a high crown though,cloche hats and the like do not suit me at all.
