Which haircut should I choose?

So hair salons still haven’t opened up in Toronto... but I am itching for a haircut!

I need something that is:
-wash and wear (will be worn curly)
- short and structured
- has to work with my grey hair

I will likely go back to my short asymmetrical cut (like my photo in the blue dress) as I like the structure and edge it gives me. Also when I cut that short I can let it grow out for a while (my hair grows very fast.)

But I wanted to ask you wise Fabbers in case you liked another look better?

They are all lovely...I especially like photo #6. The bounce of the curl layers at different lengths is eye-catching!

Love the blue dress one, and second choice is pic 8. Definitely not straight.

Oh wow! Too many good options. I do understand why you mean about the edge the asymmetrical cut gives - I am missing that right now. I love all the ones where your hair is curly though - #6 is very pretty but #7 is more intriguing. Retro edge? Will be following. Of course!

I like them all but definitely curly!! And I like it shorter I think. If assymetric is calling your name I would go with this - it really suits you.

I truly like them all, but my faves (at least from these pics are): 2, 6, 7. Is 7 stacked in back? That could be interesting.

Nobody's said 8, but I actually think it looks really easy and fresh! (Triangle hear is still having a moment, and as a fellow curly, I'm not mad about it.)

Definitely curly! Also, I’m a fan of the asymmetric cut on you, but with curls on the shorter side as well as the longer side (vs undercut/shaved). Maybe a little closer to symmetric? Length stopping between high cheekbone/below ear vs longer. Seeing how there is a small natural swoop of hair across your brow, and your face is just so d%#$ dramatically beautiful, I wonder if a baby-bang might be a way to ‘change-up’ a style that is working so well for you?

Two other ideas, however I think #1 is too conventional for you, and #2 - though a fab curly Mohawk is probably too ‘masculine/tomboy’ for where you are in your style journey ATM.

You have proven you can wear your hair many ways. I love your current style, but do you want a change? I love your curls and natural colour, so #2 is favourite, followed by #8 style with your current colour.

Wow, you look amazing in all of these and out really suit long hair as well as short! I think 6 is the standout for me too, and 3, 4 and 5 are all amazing if you ever decide to go long again.

I like all of your hairstyles and I think you hair has a lovely texture. The curly versions are my favorites, but I would also echo the question ' do you want to change your hairstyle ?'.
I think the asymmetrical shows your grey hair the best but you might be looking for something softer at this point.

I have to give some love to the long styles! I know short is super popular here on YLF, and you can obviously wear all these styles really well, but I really like the long waves in 4. 6 and 8 are my next favorites. And I actually think it looks fantastic straight too (as a fellow curly girl who likes to straighten from time to time). 1 and 7 are my least favorite.

Have you ever considered bangs a la French bob style? Yes, I'm obsessed with this type of haircut right now - lol.

I feel that the asymmetric /long bang cut has lost it's edge, as it's everywhere ! I'm NOT saying it doesn't look good, but if you are interesting in trying something new.....

And I say that acknowledging my own cut has that same issue. I'm always looking for something newer, yet I often fall back on my usual pixie too. I think the soft bangs would be cute on you !

#6 is the standout for me - love that style on you! I also love #4 and I think a very slight short bang like you had in #5 is also really nice on you.

Wow - thanks everyone for the wealth of honest and gracious feedback! This is so helpful as I think about what I do next with my hair, and after that, and after that

I am leaning towards staying with my current style (#2) for now - even though it has really grown out more into a chin-length bob at this point, I liked the edge and structure of it and i don't think I'm tired of it yet.

Angie hit the nail on the head in her hair post - I want something that looks neat and professional even with my active life - and that is not easy with my curly, fine, flyaway hair ( I have fine hair, but a lot of it.)

#6 is a close runner up though according to you all so i might change my mind and do that! And appreciate the love for the long hair - I'm sure I'll go back down that route at some point.

Carla - wow! Thanks for al that amazing inspo! I can never find haircuts on women my age and older with silver hair. That is a treasure trove and something I will for sure be taking to my stylist!

Lisa - I love those cuts too! Unfortunately they call for thicker, heavier wavy hair that doesn't fly away to look neat - with my curls I would look like Mrs. Frizzle I do like the idea of short bangs though and I might bring that up to my stylist.

I prefer your thick luscious curls to the straighter styles, so #2, 4, 5, 7 and 8 are my faves!

I vote #7 with the GORGEOUS grey hair. It looks newer than #2. I totally understand your need for neatly structured hair.

(Your hair looks soooooo thick! I can't believe it's fly-away hair like mine).

Roxanna this thread is a treasure trove! (For me I mean. ) I am glad Angie saw the potential in #7 - it would look even better with the silver mixed it.
Carla's pictures are amazing! To me there is a subtle difference between her #2 in the first batch and her #1 in the second, which makes the former slighty edgier and the latter more conventional. Don't know if you see that too.
Love Lisa's French bob idea but it looks very hair dependent.
Can't wait to see your after picture!
