Leggings under skirts/dresses. I just dont get it They are not as bad as full pants under skirts/dresses (which to me looks like you couldnt decide which to wear, so decided to do both) but I dont think I'll ever truly like the look. Also have a strong aversion to sneakers/loafers and pointy toed or really square toed shoes. But I do love the majority of the looks and especially the diversity of body type/styles here on YLF

I don't know if ballet flats are loved on TLF, but in the wider public they are everywhere. But not for me

and here on YLF I am struggling to like knee length shorts. I want shorts or pants. The middle ground just doesn't fly. But since my legs won't get thinner and firmer and younger by magic, I have switched to summer skirts instead of shorts.

I am also not into two toned oxfords, oddly enough, I was looking for them 4 years ago before they got popular here. But I have lost the taste now.

BM, I don't love leggings under skirts and dresses either. I've tried but just don't care for it.

Can't find the love for pleated pants either. And volume on volume works ok on some ladies here, but I don't think it would ever flatter me.

I've actually come to like some looks that I never thought I'd get behind, thanks to YLF. It doesn't always mean I'd wear them, because some I just don't think would suit me well, but I've grown to appreciate them on other people. It's been a fun education.

The whole time I read this thread I thought about what I say next and thought I was alone- thanks Biscuitsmon, it's nice to have someone of like mind just to know I am not completely out of mine.

Leggings the way they are worn this time around- like bicuitsmom I don't get the need for legging with a skirt/dress. (I wore them like mad in the 80s and 90s but not that way).
Pants with dresses
Double tights
Will probable never wear the oxford or loafers either but I don't hate them on others.

High-low hems. They are "new" this spring, and I just cannot adjust my eye to them. In my mind, this is how regular dresses fit while I was pregnant, and my eye immediately goes to the tummy area to check if that's the reason for the asymmetrical hem. But then again, my eye has never adjusted to handkerchief hems or any sort of asymmetrical hem, so it isn't just high-low; it is anything not straight. So it is likely that no matter how long this trend is around I just won't ever adjust to it because it looks "off" to me.

It's funny, Angie periodically makes a blog post about something edgy and my comment is some variation on "really? I think this is hideous" except less confrontational. I think that's what's great about YLF, our diverse tastes.

There are certain prints that I just HATE irrationally. I can't explain it, and I am OK with other people wearing them, it just makes me wince. Silhouettes I generally don't feel as strongly about - there are plenty that aren't flattering on me, but I often appreciate them on other figure types.

I used to think I would never wear booties (with skirts/dresses) or patterned pants or animal print... Well, I got over the booties, and I have a pair of white AG leopard print skinnies that I adore. I dipped a toe into the flat oxfords trend with cheapo shoes that wore quickly into the "uncomfortable" territory, but I'm still intrigued--if they're around another season, I will probably invest. My style is not menswear-inspired at all, but I do have small feet relative to both the mainstream American market and to my height. My feet will never escape daintiness, except to veer into childlike frivolity.

One popular YLF look that I still don't like--clamdiggers/Bermuda shorts. The length is extremely unflattering on me because I have thick thighs attached to narrow hips and then narrowing down to tiny feet... if I cut off my legs at the knee with fabric, I look both stumpy and frumpy. Same goes for sleeved tops... I can wear sleeveless, cap, and flutter sleeves without a thought, but elbow-length half sleeves are horribly unflattering.

I am struggling to like floaty voluminous cropped blouses

Interesting thread! And I like people's different interpretations.

A lot of the things that get YLF love but I can't feel have literally to do with FEELING. That is, it's not that I don't like the LOOK (at least in theory, on some body types or for someone with a particular style personality). But I don't like how it feels.

Like leggings with dresses or skirts. I LOVE how this can look on some. But it feels bunchy and uncomfortable to me, so even if I like the look, I probably won't wear it.

Another, for me, would be fur vests. Wouldn't like the sensation of having one on. Too "bunchy."

Still another would be stiletto heels. Just. Not. Me. Can't walk = no good, from my perspective.

But there are lots of things I've learned to love on YLF. Booties with dresses and skirts. Pattern mixing (of a restrained variety). Bright bags. And I keep learning and adapting my eye.

Another fur vest vote, but also animal print as a whole. Yech. What Laura said - it's irrational, but heartfelt.
Is leggings with a dress a climate thing? I can't believe I didn't try it sooner, because it means I can wear my dresses year round.

This thread is interesting. I can't think of anything that I don't like. The thing is, even if I wouldn't wear something, there's almost always someone who posts a look with an item in question that I like.

I can't think of anything that I well and truly do not like at all, even on others. There are plenty of things that I don't like _on me_:

Ballet flats
Midi skirts (though I now own one and need to try to make it work. Might need the waist taken in)
Printed pants

Hmm.... okay, that's all I'm coming up with. I love oxfords and just wore a pair on Sunday with a hi-low skirt!

On me, that would be pencil skirts. Although I just bought a pencil-ish midi!

Oh, I just realized another one, and I know I'm totally on the outside on this one: long puffer coats. Never liked 'em, doubt I ever will.

There's a big difference between what I like on others and what I like on myself. YLF shows such variety of style and body type that it helps me adjust my eye and be open to at least trying ON new things (in the privacy of dressing room).

I think buttoned up basic blouses are fine for others but not for me (I don't like them on their own - kind of too menswear for me I think) and I am not always agreeing that a chunky shoe or bootie is right for dresses (I am Team Dainty Shoe) but I like looking at the efforts and proportions and being inspired.

I know exactly what you mean Christianne. I like the look of booties enough on others to have bought two pairs this year but I only wore each pair one time and it just didn't look right to me so they languished in the closet unloved and unworn.

Thanks, Janet and Tracina...glad Im not alone. I certainly would never want to hurt anyone's feelings on this, hope no one is offended, and think the one's Ive seen look fine, as far the styling goes, but just cant get behind this look, thats all.

I'm not a fan of the just-past-the-knee leggings under skirts and dresses. It reminds me too much of how a 6-year old is dressed. Since I'm quite short and look a bit young in some attire, this looks extremely juvenile on me.

It's too bad, because it's a great MOTG solution for wearing dresses while crawling around on the floor with a baby!

I think I would have to differentiate between the stuff I know is horribly unflattering on me or that I can't get a fit in, and looks that don't appeal to me.

My low arches and wide feet make it nearly impossible for me to wear or wear comfortably loafers, ballet flats, and slipper shoes; they would also not flatter my short, chunky legs. For the same reason wearing leggings would do no favors for my proportions, but it is also not a favorite look.

For some reason, I can't get my mind around tucking jeans in boots. It is difficult for me to do anyway due to fat legs, but I find the look fine on others! I can't for the life of me figure out why wearing boots in general doesn't appeal to me, but it certainly helps the budget to avoid boots. Could be that finding ones short enough is a hassle, and years ago my feet would get too hot in boots. Habit? My climate is not that cold, and I DO have rain boots that I have always coveted. Unfortunately, almost as soon as I bought them last fall, it stopped raining!

Slouchy looks on others are simply sloppy looks on me; that holds true for cardigans, too. I'm so glad that jackets have come back!!!

Knit dresses are another thing that looks great on others but dumpy on me. . . .

All these things I truly enjoy seeing in your WIWs. Instead of stylized models, it is great to see regular women (who may be plus, petite, or somewhere in-between!) and have a range of styles. So fun!!!
