What fashion/beauty item(s) would you buy with $50?

If you were handed $50 today to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

I won an unexpected small award at work and was gifted $50. Yay! $50 is quite a bit to me. I am slowly learning to spend more on my clothing, but I tend to be cheap. For example:

* I hardly ever pay full price for anything.
* Most of my basic clothing comes from Target.
* I tend to choose Old Navy over Gap due to pricing.
(I nearly fainted when I first started buying full price jeans at Gap.)
* My favorite place to buy jewelry is F21 and H&M.
* I own 5 Coach bags (most of which are from the outlet) and I bought none of them.
All were gifted to me.
* I buy Sally Hansen nail polish over OPI.

So yay, I am pretty pumped over $50. I could buy a ton of stuff--lots of jewelry at F21, maybe a top or 2 or shoes at Target OR one somewhat more expensive item.

What would you buy?!?

I am right with you - down to the stores lol. Since it's 'found' money, I say splurge. Find one nice thing you normally would consider out of your budget or range. I bought a $50 chiffon tank last year that gave me pause, but I love it and don't regret it for a minute

I would splurge too! It's great to shop on a budget, but when it's 'free' money, I would spend it on a purse, a trench or something like that which will go with all the basics I own

I can always spend imaginary money better than I can real "extra" money. I tend to hem and haw over getting every pennies worth from it and end up usually buying and returning just to get extra shopping out of it. Not an efficient system by any means, but it's my thing. I've found lately that I actually get more satisfaction from a few better/more expensive items than a whole bunch of inexpensive ones with a windfall such as yours.
I think if there is a bigger ticket item you've really wanted, but haven't splurged on you might want to focus there. It's a great time of year to get jackets and winter accessories and boots on sale so you could find a $200 item in your $50 price range. You'd normally buy the little stuff, so I vote for something big to really remember the award by. And congrats! You must share what you end up with.

I am contemplating shoes....nude pumps or chucks. From one end of the spectrum to the other, right?!? Ha!

I've been wanting chucks since this summer. I'd probably wear them most with jeans and fitted vintage Ts. Remember, I am a comfort first, usually more of a MOTG! But I like the idea of pairing them with some casual blazers?

In the past few weeks I've been thinking that I'd like to branch out a bit. Perhaps feel more like a grown up and wear some heels. I like that the nude pumps would hopefully give me a lot of wear since they's hopefully go with a lot. I like that I see so many ladies wear them with jeans (my go to). But, I"m afraid I'll buy them, find that they are not comfy or practical for me, and then never wear them.

Oh! Jjsloane, you reminded me that I also want a pair of cognac tall/riding style boots! But not sure if I can luck out and find them for $50ish bucks.

I would buy a good pair of sandals or a summer dress, but that is because my climate is predominantly summer and those are the items that I get the most wear out of.

I would buy something for spring, something in a bright color and then I would wear it in the dead of winter (which is what it is for us where we live) and hopefully spread some cheer:))
But.... your idea of pumps sounds great. I am a MOTG and I wear pumps often, when the weather allows. I find it just takes my outfit up a notch, plus I think a bit of a heel pushes me towards better posture.

I would put it towards a pair of black flat boots I've had my eye on (though I'd need to supplement with other funds)

I agree that if you can, you should get something special with it. What does your wardrobe most need - something that you've been putting off, that you know you'll get use out of on a weekly basis?

ooohhhh Modgrl, those are nice! And from Tarjay! I may have to stop by on my way home and see if my Target has them in stock. I hate ordering shoes online because I am anywhere from a 6.5 to a 7.5.

I say try the Target boots, order a pair of socks with it so the shipping is free, and no harm no foul if they don't work - no money out of pocket!

ETA: Chucks and blazers are delish. Think Ellen DeGeneres. I think Angie had posted a few outfits with chucks as well!

I just remembered my recent lust of gold/rose gold and tortoise watches! Now I am searching amazon.com for watches. Do you see what happens when I get a little bit 'o free money?!?!? Not a good thing for an indecisive shopper with a looooong list of wishes.

A pair of TOM's shoes. They cost about $50, I love the espadrille look of them, and the TOM's business ethos is so admirable. You get a great pair of shoes, and a needy child gets a pair, too!
