What else can I wear these with?

I was so excited when I found these tops, thinking I'd be able to wear them all kinds of ways, but every time I try, they don't seem to get much love. So far I think the only way I can wear them is with pencil skirts, and I hardly ever wear pencil skirts anymore. I was hoping to wear them with harem pants and high waisted flares, but they were deemed too voluminous for the harem pants and they just didn't look right with flares.

Maya, I was new to this forum when you posted these blouses and I adored them then and I still love them now. I thought they would be perfect with skirts or high waisted skinnies. Oh, I so hope you can make them work for you. You look so darling in both prints.

Would these work with the dark high-rise BDG jeans you picked up?

I remember these tops. I can see how these would be too much volume for harems, since those also have volume. My ideas are: skinny jeans with boots, skinny cargo pants or over a sheath dress.

They are too short for skinnies, and obscene with the BDG jeans (which are jeggings). They don't seem to be working with flares either though.

I'm not sure if they're too voluminous for full skirts.

How about a full skirt but one that starts slim and then has volume at the bottom would that create a balance effect with the top since it is also slim in the middle but volume with the sleeves?

Oh one more, what about really wide leg jeans? And a pendant necklace to make it 70's?

Ah, didn't realize the BDG jeans were jeggings. I think a voluminous skirt may work as long as it's longer and drapes down more than flares out (not sure how to describe?) Something like this: http://www.weardrobe.com/pictu.....a-long-way

Do you have cigarette pants? My eye wants these to go kind of retro and Hepburn-esque with a slim pant and flats. I could also see them with short shorts.

I have cigarette pants, but I do not have the Hepburn-esque body to go with it :p

Short shorts is a good idea. I have a structured a-line that I could try them out with too.

I keep finding myself getting drawn to this skirt, even though it's not something I normally go for: http://www.modcloth.com/Womens.....ance-Skirt (yes I know it's out of stock but Modcloth usually re-stocks everything)

Is it too puffy?

Definitely something high-waisted. I'd wear those with my sailor pants - have you tried something like that, or is that what you meant when you said flares?

Sailor pants are wide-legged, which I do not prefer on myself.

I guess I was hoping they'd work with the trouser jeans I got, but instead I think the overall effect made me look even more short waisted. Or something. I don't know. Something was off.

They definitely have to be skirt tops, but I hope I'm not stuck with pencil skirts only. I didn't think of these as voluminous tops when I bought them. I guess they are though, even though they are fitted at the waist.

I'm think of a short structured a-line skirt similar to this one

Same principle as the short shorts, let your legs balance the volume.

ETA I think pencil skirts would look divine BUT they don't seem your style right now (maybe mine?), plus UO would not sell an item which was limited to being worn with a pencil skirt. I think a different silhouette of skirt would add edge, modernity and youth to the look.

But they looked pretty good with the jeans you originally showed them with... Wouldn't a high-waisted trouser work? I confess, that a pencil skirt is probably the ultimate way to wear these.

What about with your harem pants, but with a fitted little jacket over the top? So you have the best of both worlds: the cute print and perfect length of the top, along with the structure of the jacket, so the whole look doesn't look to billowy or blousy?

Hmm, I have some 'sperimenting to do this weekend.

I guess lately pencil skirts have been feeling a little stuffy and dressy to me (not to mention constricting). I'm just ready for something new, even though a-line and full skirts are not very flattering on me. They're definitely more comfortable though, and would be a nice alternative to dresses.

Jonesy, that might work for late spring, but I'm already thinking ahead to summer (my most troublesome season).

Lots of suggestions already, and I'll start off by saying that I LOVE those blouses.

Try them with your CM checked pants.

Shorten your Gap cigarette pants an wear them with those.

You need denim shorts that are just above the knee - like Mo has.

Try them over a sheath dress - the one Marianne gave you.

Try it over bootcuts WITH the new shaggy vest.

Add your denim jacket when wearing it with harem pants.

Wear them over your orphaned dress pants WITH a BF blazer.

I'm tired, that's all I can think of right now.

Love the modcloth skirt, but it needs a fitted tucked in top.

I don't have Gap cigarette pants or orphaned dress pants.

I think the CM pants are too low rise to work.

Don't like above the knee shorts.

But the rest is try-able.

Did you give away your dress pants? Don't you have Gap Audrey Hepburn cigarette pants or did you give those away too?

You should TRY THE DENIM SHORTS. Yes - I'm shouting!

The CM pants are not low rise.

Yes, I gave both pants away ages ago. You couldn't pay me to wear dress pants these days. I replaced the Gap pants with the BR Martin pants...which I somehow lost, so I need to replace them

I had knee length denim shorts! Gave those away too. They just weren't being worn and I never felt great in them.

I am ruthless about closet purging, and I haven't regretted giving away anything so far. There are lots of other things to try, so we don't need to focus on those!
