What does your SO think of YLF?

Both my son and my husband are now well aware of YLF. I think they are faintly suspicious (or in my son's case, competitive for attention) of what I'm up to and why I'm taking all these photos of myself. HA! I just tell them it's all in the pursuit of self-improvement, and don't they want a lovely wife and mum?

What do the rest of you tell your SO about YLF?

My BF thinks it's good fun for me. He's nicknamed me 'the fashion Mo' long ago when I'd get in my closet and start trying on 20 things. You know, like Malibu Barbie. Anyway he thinks it's perfect that I have a place to share with like minded people. I usually try and get off the boards and spend time together when he gets home from work. Moderation in all things, as they say

My hubby can often be heard asking "What would Angie Say?" as he scoots behind me as I am at the mirror.
He likes to tease me, but he also knows that I enjoy fashion.

My hubby has been out of town on a big work project for almost the entire time I've been here. He was a bit bemused that I had to take photos of myself every day while he was here for Thanksgiving, and he's a tad alarmed at all the shopping! But he is definitely liking the results, I think!

SO and DS are always very interested in what's going on on YLF. When I see SO and I'm dressed nicely, he usually asks, "Did you post a photo?"

My husband is happy I have somewhere to share fashion photos/questions (especially photos since I've been posting my photos online mainly for myself for nearly a year now, with little feedback). However he's threatening to "invade" so he can get his opinions heard and maybe change my mind about some things he seriously dislikes (such as jeans tucked into boots hehe)

Corey doesn't always love having to play photographer, but he's 100% supportive of YLF and my involvement here. He knows Angie's name (she's not just the fashion blog owner anymore) and has developed real respect for her taste, since she's picked out some of my best wardrobe items. He's even surfed over to the website to look around and has enjoyed some of the posts like the "mad men to casualization" one. He loves clothes himself, so in that sense he's quite empathetic. He's glad I have an online space to share one of my passions, and he recognizes that I get good advice here (often you ladies are able to articulate an outfit flaw that he has identified but struggled to explain, such as scarf knot placement).
Like other YLF men, though, he's been known to tease me. If I come home witha new item (which I do more than I used to), he'll usually say something like, "Oh, better check with the fashion blog!"

Great question! My guy started out a bit skeptical/critical ("all the housewives are going to think you look great no matter what you wear because you're young and have a good body"), but now he sees it as an asset. I think sharing some pictures of some of your fab outfits and relaying some funny comments/threads helped win him over. Now if I ask his opinion on something he isn't sure about he'll say "I think ______, but go ask the YLF ladies" and he'll ask me later what everyone thought. He participates in a guitar and amplifier forum, and is astounded by how intelligent, supportive, and generally thoughtful YLF is in comparison. I'm not sure how many of you he actually knows by name, but he certainly knows who a couple of you are by description (as I do about some of the guys on the amp forum).

My hubby does not like to take the pictures and he has notice I am buying allot more clothes. But he is fine with it as long as I am happy.

He thinks it's costing us a lot of money, no matter how many times I've tried to explain that it's actually saving money in the long run. It's all the buying and returning that's doing it...the Zappo's purchases in particular have come close to giving him a heart attack. But aside from that, as crwilson said above, he thinks I'm really nerdy. And I'm fine with that, because I *am* nerdy, and so is he.

Mine doesn't have an opinion on YLF, except when I am trying on several new items of clothing and asking what he thinks. I can be pretty incessant with questions, and I will try on things over and over and over. He's patient (and has a good eye), but there have been a few times where he gets bored and says "why don't I take a photo and you can ask your message board people?" So I guess that means he likes YLF!

So at dinner tonight I thought I'd ask everyone what they thought, just to make sure I was correct in my earlier reply.

ds#2 : "Waste of time." (This answer surprised me.) "I'm not interested in fashion at all." LOL! So then I explained that I wasn't asking about his interest in the forum, but what he thought of MY involvement with the forum. "Oh, it's a fun way to interact with other people." : )

dd: "I think looking pretty is a good idea!"

hubby: "It helps my wife to look pretty."

I don't have a SO, but this thread made me realize I now have yet another requirement (as if I weren't picky enough): If my SO does not approve of my YLF habit, it's a total dealbreaker. Oh dear, I'm destined to be a spinster.

My hubby isn't at all surprised I am involved in a fashion website..he even happily takes my (out of focus) pictures:) gotta love him, he tries:)

I've never asked my SO but I think he thinks it's great. I've made friends via YLF and it's all positive. He's not a huge fan of taking pictures for me, but he obliges anyway.

Ben loves that it leaves him some time in complete control of the remote control. Teah refers to it as Mummys Website and can be quite cross when it's not changed to Scooby Doo within 30 seconds flat. Emmy likes to sit on my knee and place finger prints all over my profile pic.

My DH seems to be supportive of my YLF involvement, though I don't think he fully realizes how directly YLF involvement has led to my increased apparel expenditures! We'll just keep that a secret, won't we?

DH is glad I found this site..it stops my asking him all the time! lol...Biscuit is not as thrilled...'why are you NOT paying attention to ME???' lol...

My hubby may do a little eye-rolling when it comes to fashion in general, but he knows how passionate I've always been about it. When I have the laptop, it's YLF time!

He has noticed my recent scarf addiction and has even complimented the resulting fab outfits!

My husband thinks I'm a dork for taking/posting pictures, and he has noticed that I buy more clothes, but I don't think he thinks about it much beyond that. He has a lot of hobbies that require the buying of gadgets, and I didn't have anything like that for a long time, so he thinks it's nice that I'm doing more for myself.

My husband finds it REALLY out of character for me ! I am VERY cautious: I track my entire family's credit reports to check for ID theft, I have a million passwords, I never give out info on the web, I don't even participate on other sites that I like, not even news sites....it is kinda funny. I just feel so at ease with the women here and have no guard up.

Hubby is not a fan of taking photos, hence all my self taken one's instead. But he loves that he doesn't have to give an opinion anymore, he always defers to "what did the girls think?"

What Tricia said! I think the whole family thinks I'm a dork for taking photos. DH probably wonders why I am buying clothes when he sees me in gear (after the gym) before he goes to work and then back in sweats/loungewear when he gets home from work.

I think it makes him a little nervous. He equates it with spending money! And because he works (most of the time) out-of-state he doesn't really realize (yet) how much it has influenced (in a positive way!) my shopping habits.

I don't think my DH is all that impressed, especially if I am on the computer too much or spent too much on clothes. I don't talk about it much to him al all, and never about the style side of YLF.

But I think he might be glad that I don't drag him out on shopping expeditions any more to help me make my mind up on what to get, as his patience for those was pretty limited!
