What does your SO think about YLF?

As I think I've mentioned before, my hubby calls YLF "your dress-up friends!" When I first started talking about you all, he wasn't all that interested. He got more interested when I started getting better dressed. And when we had the clothing swap at my house and he got to meet a bevvy of gorgeous, fun, and charming YLF participants, he really sat up and took notice! The birthday video was the icing on the cake -- he was interested in the whole process and blown away by the final product. He allowed as how Angie is beautiful and must be "quite a woman" to inspire such devotion!

And as an added bonus, he has really been stepping up his own style game! Love it!

What about your hubby or SO? Does he/she know about YLF? What's his or her take on the whole scene?

DH hasn't said anything specific but his comments on my outfits in the past year or so have been overwhelmingly positive. He does have quite the eye for style and I love how he is more involved now. It's funny how he now asks if I am feeling alright if I'm not dressed up to my usual standard.

He has definitely said that since I've stepped up my style game he needs to step it up too (and has) to be seen next to me

Bryan likes it because more than anything, YLF instilled a personal confidence in me. I used to have fits in the closet and now he doesn't have to put up with that anymore.
He likes that I have an outlet for my hobby, too, and we have also made some good friends (in real life) via YLF.

I think he likes the SYC and SYB parts the best lol!
Honestly, I think he's happy I have an outlet for my interest and he thinks it's fun(ny) when I do my WIW pics. For years now he's called me the Fashion Mo when I'm rummaging through the closet and trying on outfits - kind of like Malibu Barbie I guess ha ha. He happens to be a pretty nice dresser himself, except I'm still working on stepping up his causal wear.

He loves that I have kind, supportive people to share my interests with -- especially since the clothing swap, since it shows that no one here is pressuring me to spend tons of $ to look more fashionable. He's also complimented my improving ability to pose for photos.

Mine doesn't know about it per se, but he is psyched that I am starting to put more effort into dressing because it's making me happier and more confident! Plus he quite enjoyed the back view picture I sent him of the fab jeans I tried on yesterday.

He's a man who likes to look good too. He liked the time I put him in a WIW picture.

My SO jokes that YLF is "another extension of my shopping disorder." : D

He's not criticizing, because he knows I stick to a budget!

Whenever I buy something and show him, my husband asks "What would Angie say?" If he sees me on the computer, he will ask "Are you 'looking fab'? He was teasing the other night that he was going to start a male counterpart and call it "You Look FLAB" LOL
I think it has influenced him a bit though, he just got new glasses and they are so much better than his old ones!

Mine likes it. He thinks I have gained more confidence.

SO is a major fan of YLF. He loves taking me shopping, notices my outfits, and will ask, "Did you post a photo?" It took him about two seconds to suggest that we host the Northeast clothing swap at his house. I think he likes the supportive atmosphere, the generosity of the members. and the way technology makes it possible for people to come together over a common interest.

He'll be arriving at my house for the weekend in a couple of hours (yay) and I'm sure he'll be willing to do a photo shoot of the birthday goodies we bought last weekend.

It was actually my husband who said I should start posting my outfits here! He was aware as to how much I was enjoying and learning from this site and mentioned that it would only be fair to become an actively participating member versus one who just quietly benefits.

He notices I'm on the computer more than usual. LOL!

He knows I love fashion, so he just does an occasional eyeroll. And I keep coming back for more inspiration!

PS He's stylish without even knowing it! Killer in jeans and a tee.

eh eh.. mine gets jealous when I'm talking to you and don't pay him attention but he doesn't read YLF.

Well, for one, he is happy I no longer ask him to explain to me why he likes something on me or not. He has an eye for detail, knows what he likes (or rather, knows instinctively) and I'd say is more stylish than me. Not for long, I'm catching up . It used to drive me nuts when he'd say something looked good, but could not put into words what and why. With my own low SQ he was not helping driving things in the right direction at all.

Enter YLF and now I know.

Also, he sees I have fun and I'm really enjoying this whole process of discovering and defining my style. He likes seeing some inexplicable pieces being expelled from the wardrobe as much as I do. I told him a few weeks ago that I feel so playful now and he said "that IS the most important thing in life, to play". Handsome, clever, insightful - no returns, he IS a keeper

I have no SO, but my uber stylish friend (who is a guy) said this to me yesterday...

"You know, you used to dress kind of cute, but now it's a lot better. It's like cute +1."

I think that's a good thing. HAHA.

My husband is happy I have a place to chat about fashion, especially since it means I can get other opinions besides his (we differ quite a bit in fashion preferences heh). He has been kind of working on improving his style recently, not sure if it's a reflection of my doing so since he pretty much does what he wants

EDIT: He IS continually amused (in a good way) that I post photos of myself, and have managed to consistently do so for over a year. And I showed him some of the copycat outfits I've inspired which he also found highly amusing ^^

He likes it for a whole variety of reasons. He continues to be amazed by how supportive and kind YLF is, especially compared to any forum he's ever seen. He appreciates not being the only one to weigh in on my shopping choices and the occasional funny story or picture that I share with him. While my style changes haven't inspired many, ok, ANY changes to how he dresses, when I came home the other day he gushed about how he wore a suit to his interview and took some "YLF-style pictures" to show me how good he looked!!! Before YLF he still would have worn the suit, but snapping a couple pictures was 100% YLF inspired!

He thinks it's yet another thing that makes me spend more time on the internet and fuels my shopping addiction. XD He likes to make fun of the name when he walks by and sees me on it.

We have a good relationship i promise lol. We just both like to give each other a hard time.

At first I think he worried dressing better might mean dressing more conservatively or overly fussy. I think he was pleasantly surprised to realize people here wear Converse and Docs and there's a wide range of styles. Overall I'm much happier with my developing style, so that makes him happy too. I used to ask him for fashion advice all the time, now he says I've surpassed his knowledge (but I still run outfits by him sometimes).

My husband has been a computer geek since the late 70s (he BUILT his first computer from a Heathkit and did all his own programming.) He isn't interested in fashion but he loves looking over my shoulder to see what Greg has been up lately. He is mightily impressed with the design and functionality of this site (his words, not mine). Angie is a "very pretty woman" but Greg is the true star of YLF in my husband's eyes!

I don't talk about YLF much and I am not sure he would approve if he thought it would lead me my spending too much money on clothes. But he likes me to be happy and to look nice. He now doesn't have to come shopping with me to help me make up my indecisive mind as I have all your guys to help me out with that, which he should be glad about!

Hubby and the kids think YLF is great. Like some have already mentioned, hubby is relieved to be relieved of answering, "What do you think of this?"

Usually the kiddos will ask, "Did you take your outfit pic, today?"

My daughter (7) can't wait until she's old enough to participate here on the forum! Hee-hee!

DH knows about YLF but only in the vaguest way. When I started stepping up my style and I'd ask for his input, he'd look carefully at what I was wearing and give his thoughts, but he always qualified his response with "I've never seen you wear something like that." At the time, he didn't know about YLF and I think he was wondering what prompted such a change!

Now that he knows, it's really cute. I'll model something and if I'm undecided, he'll ask "do you think you should take a picture?" and then ask you all:)

Such a cool thread! My children love YLF - except when dinner is delayed because I'm engrossed! My bad....My DD takes my pics for me and we often go through the feedback together.

DH is more of an eye-roller, but he does like that I'm trying different things with my style. I've asked for his input (eg on Ornela's specs thread) and he's happy to contribute. And he loved the birthday video!

My hubby thinks YLF is so good for me. I used to peruse the catalogues and buy things that I thought looked good. Then, when I got them, they would look really bad on me or just not like on the models. I ALWAYS thought it was because I was too fat. I have issues with my weight...at every weight I have been, I've always thought it was 5-10 pounds too heavy. So, hubby seeing me struggle with weight and body image issues is thrilled that I'm learning how clothes fit on REAL women. What clothes look good on MY body type, not the twiggy thin teenage models that they have re-touched to look a certain way.

I'm not sure he's thrilled with my increased spending, but he's had more expensive hobbies than mine...so he hasn't complained...
