Your collection is compact and hard-working and I feel like the way you have graduated from one look to another is coherent and consistent with all your style goals. Gradual, fashion-aware but not trend-driven.
I like to keep my jeans current -- but only if I can find a version of whatever is current that fits well and feels good. If that makes sense. So if jeans go ultra low rise again, I might be in for a period of not wearing them often because it is really hard for me to get a good fit with that type of jean.
However, right now, I am in clover.
My collection:
3 pairs of A-line wide legs, all high waisted, in different washes. On me, these are not crops as they on the Paige model. They are not quite the "old" full length (not floor sweeping, no real break over the shoe) but also not as short as the "new" full length (i.e. they don't show the entire shoe.) 1 plain dark wash (Paige); one medium wash (Everlane), and 1 acid wash with slight distressing (Old Navy). I wear the first two from September-May and the ON from May-September. (All new in 2023)
1 pair wide leg crops in a light wash. Summer jean. (New in 2023)
1 pair slim silver jeans. Special occasion. (New in 2023)
1 pair mid-rise cargo jean with tencel. Summer jean. These are called "beach jeans" or something but I actually like to wear them gardening! (New in 2023)
1 ecru barrel leg jean from Everlane. Light weight so worn in spring/ summer. (New in 2023)
1 pair cropped white "dad" jeans -- loose straights. I like these year round but wear more in warmer weather. (New in 2022).
1 pair BF jeans. (New in 2018)
I never wore jeans in summer when I lived in humid Ontario -- and when skinny/ slim jeans were the style. I find I can wear them here in the west -- but not only because our temps are more moderate. It is also the styles are breezier and most of my jeans are very high (to entirely) cotton.
I haven't been counting wears this year but in the few months I counted last winter the BF jeans had 10 wears and the white jeans the same. This year, they have had fewer wears and I favour the wide legs. But I do wear the others as well, as you saw during the January challenge.
I also wear dress pants more often than denim this year in general. But I love the jeans I own and really like wearing them.
In light of the blog link -- My only "hmmmm" to myself is over the silver jeans, which really have not seen much wear. Just a few "at home" special suppers. I think I probably should have gone for a looser style in the end. And these are not skinny, by any means -- they are fairly generous slim straights. But while I think the cut does work for me in terms of style persona and body type, it seems to be harder to style right now.
