Like many of you, for me it's underwear and gear.

I think I was about 45 when, while shopping to replenish undies for Christmas stockings for my kids, I realized that I could also buy some for myself, rather than waiting for my own mom to send me some in her Christmas parcel (hangs head in shame).

Generally, I am not underbuying any category. I keep a list on my phone of items I need and want, and I update it every season. However, there are several items that have been on my wishlist for a long time because it is difficult to find the styles/colours/fabrics I want, and/or because the ones I found were too expensive. Among these are:
- White long-sleeved button-front shirt in a WARM fabric
- Neutral comfortable closed party shoes
- Non-neutral slingbacks / dressy sandals / chic mules
- THIN wool tights
- Non-black midi/midaxi coats
- Non-neutral warm winter scarf

Good point from Suz - am I “underbuying” or just not buying things I don’t use/need to replenish.

Add me to the undies & PJ's party! Solution for the former has been to bulk buy 2 weeks' worth of the same old bras & pants; boring but it works! Solution for the latter has been relegating any non-DA colours that don't look *totally* hideous on me to the pyjamas pile, lol...

I'm also like @The Cat - some items have been on my HEWI list so long I doubt I'll ever find them (like an opaque cotton 3/4 sleeved boatneck top in chocolate brown - it just doesn't seem to exist!)

It’s definitely socks and nylons for me. They’re a hassle putting on and taking off, plus socks don’t go with my choice of shoes, ballet flats and pumps; and nylons sag and droop on me. Also, I’ll ruin a pair of nylons very quickly.

Goodness underwear (bras especially) and gear are almost unanimous. Funnily these are not areas I underbuy - I don't overshop them but I am happy to stock up as needed. I would like to buy more "gear" but I try for an almost one in one out unless I see that my needs have changed...

I think with bras they are costly as well as hard to fit.... that can be offputting.

I am an oddball who loves to buy bras and pajamas and workout clothes. Party clothes are also fun. But what the heck do I wear to the grocery store? I under buy for reality.

I am the same as Lila, I've got plenty of bras and other undies, more then I really need, even sports ones, plenty of party clothes, but nothing for drop kids at school. Especially shoes are my weak point.
Or, and workout clothes too, don't like those, so don't buy and end up wearing my husband's old stuff. (note to myself to correct this, it sounds awfull and must look the same).
Corrected sleep and lounge recently though - before it was also husband's old stuff.

Haha, I am with you Lila!:-))

I underbuy swim suits. I just can't find anything that fits in all the places and I really want full coverage at the back and most leave half my cheeks hanging out!

I also underbuy athleisure wear. I wear casual stuff most of the time and somehow resist paying what they are asking for decent sweats, tshirts and other super casual items! So I have only a few items that fit and look decent and I wear them ALL the time and so I feel like I have nothing to wear because I'm wearing the same thing over and over!

I don't underbuy anything really but I do struggle with finding tees that work for my style. I find them a bit too casual but it is really handy to have a bit of a selection especially for under my merino jumpers in the transitional periods (autumn/spring). Last spring I managed to get two navy tees which feel a little more refined, one has a ruffle sleeve and the other was a cotton/silk mix so has a sheen to it.

Basics like underwear and tees are hard to get right! And swimsuits are a challenging one to shop for.

Marlene - I love Sealevel and have two of their swimsuits. The one below is my latest one and it does all the right things.

Rachel - I like AS colour for basic tees. They are plain but good quality. Tees are hard and probably the one thing I will duplicate if I find one I like.
