What do you think of this trench for me?

So... after the failed experiment in thrifting a trench earlier i took a few lessons:

1. Cobalt 2. Singlebreasted 3. I'm not quite young or edgy enough to make "off" pieces look "on".

I like this one that Una found and posted on Rae's thread.

What do you think of it for me? Does it suit my kind of playful classic style (still working on the best monikers to define my style)?

I really like it and I think it is up your alley. It looks stylish and practical. It is a classic shape that surely will stay current for a long time. I'm not sure about the golden metallics with navy, but it is also very classic as in nautical. If you like it I think you should try it on.

Yes, trying it on. Thats is the challenge. There is not a Macy's near to me so it is $10 shipping plus $7 return shipping I'm out if it doesnt work. Have not found this at a free shipping free return vendor yet.

I think it is a definite option, but of course the try on tells it all! It is a classic style witha twist.

I can relate to the problem of having to buy before trying on.

One thing that has helped me is to see if I can try on a variety of "somethings"
(coat, dress) in brick& mortar and define as many of the aspects of fit and style I like or don't like before ordering online.

So, length, color, structured belt, fabric (is this one kind of shiny?) are things you may be able to test-run prior to ordering and at least narrow down what you're aiming for.

Great advice! I REALLY despise return shipping and of course at Nordies the only trenches I like are Burberry. Go figure!

I like that the shiny fabric is a little glam and that the single breasted style has a bit of uniqueness. I feel like so many single breasted styles fall flat compared to their double breasted breathern. One of my 2013 style goals is not to online shop if there were not free returns. I suppose though we may try we dont always meet our goals

Ooh, yes. This is so worth a try for you, and I'm not just saying that because I'd be all over it if it had a gear-style wicking lining. It's classic but not classic, you know? Let's see it on! Is there no Macy's near you? I would always return to the store for free.

I like it but think it has quite a bit going on. I haven't been around much lately so am not familiar with your style but the trench is a neutral and has a nice straight cut so the detail works to my eye. It is definitely worth a try!

@ Rae -- the closest Macy's is around an hour maybe an hour and a half away. But I hadnt thought I could just order it and I would probably have a month or maybe 90 days or so to get down there for a return right?

ETA : in conjunction with another trip so i would pay gas just for the return...
