What do you think of these shoes?

I love Wittner shoes and saw these on their website today. I wouldn't normally wear something like this, but I think the 70's vibe really grabbed me. They also remind me a bit of spats, which I always admired in the old dance films.

What do you think - cool? or horribly leg shortening?

Based on what you wrote I was prepared for the worst, but I actually like them! I think they could look great with jeans too, and if you got a color similar to your skin color it wouldn't have to be too leg shortening.

Edit- white shoes can be tricky to wear. Make sure you repeat the white somewhere else in your outfit, say a bag, watch or necklace x

I very much like them and would wear them with skinnies or skirts/dresses which hit just above the knee. Louise makes a good point about the white.

I like them, just make sure that your heels are nice and smooth! Are you tanned (I can't remember)? If so, I'd probably be most tempted by the brownish colour to minimise leg shortening potential.

love the shoe, not fond of the color. as a personal preference, i find white shoes really difficult to wear and not chic enough. i would get it in tan as the black is too severe

I have a pair in suede that are very similar, so I like the style. I agree about the color, though- white shoes can be difficult to wear, so I'd go for the tan.

I like them and think they will look great with skinnies. I have a pair of white shoes and find them hard to wear, another color may be more versatile.

Since you did ask, the style is not my favorite. The leg shortening aspect would definitely be a challenge for some people, but I do like the wedge and crinkle part. Mainly the very large buckle bothers me. It is just a matter of taste though, and if they inspire you, I bet you can put together a great outfit.

Wow, much more favourable responses than I had expected.
April, I am also not a fan of the sandal-bootie trend, but these just spoke to me!

I was considering white but I think it's because we are coming out of winter and I am so tired of dark colours. Thanks to all who suggested that brown would be easier to wear. I do have that pale, freckled Celtic skin! I want to wear more skirts and dresses this summer, so I'll have to see what is in the shops as the weather warms up.

Theresa, I think sharing these might result in a custody battle! LOL.
