Yesterday, I went to Loft for the first time in years, because I had been told that they had good cotton-rich black pants, which is a HEWI for me. I tried on a bunch of them in both the Marisa (regular fit) and Jule (curvy fit) cuts. As I suspected, I prefer the Marisa because the rise is lower. They actually both fit me, although my Marisa size is one size larger than my Jule size. Unfortunately I did not think to take pictures of them on me.
Anyway, all the cotton pants they had in the store were crops. Here are some I am considering. I tried the first two in the store (although they did not have the black in my size) and the other 2 are online only.
1: textured cotton black crops. I would prefer if the fabric was smooth but otherwise they were nice. Maybe a bit heavy for warmer weather, I suspect. Length is about the same as on the model, maybe actually slightly shorter on me.
2: mosaic pattern crops. These fit me better than any pants i have tried on in ages and the fabric was really nice (smooth, 99% cotton!). This fabric content sadly does not seem to come in solids. I am slightly unsure about the pattern though. IRL the white part is more beige (like undyed linen color) and the pattern reads a bit larger than it does in the modeled pic. It's more ikat-like IRL if that makes any sense. What would you pair these with?
3: Navy eyelet. I found these browsing the site today. They are online only. I am intrigued because they are 100% cotton. But is the eyelet pattern weird, too twee, or lumpy looking?
4: A different black pair that's also online only. According to the product description these are supposed to be a little shorter than the other 3 (which are all supposed to be the same length despite how they look different on the models). They have a bit more spandex though (3%) so I am a little doubtful. I also can't tell if the leg opening is too wide.
What do you think? I am particularly interested in what you think about the length. On me the ones I tried are somewhere between the lengths of the first and second pairs on the models. They could easily be shortened but not lengthened, and I could probably taper the hems slightly (they have a split hem so I could sew that up and maybe overlap it a little to make it skinnier.) Remember that I don't wear heels more than 1-2" on a regular basis and I don't wear low vamp shoes. I'd want them to work with things like flat sandals and oxfords. I don't want to go for tall or petite because the rise would change, and the rise on these is just about perfect right now.
