What do you think about these sandals? ETA Update

I still don't have sandals for summer and I thought about trying these Clarks sandals, mostly because they are available in a wider width and wouldn't be too expensive with the 10€ discount I could get.

I'm a bit concerned that they aren't flat, but they do look lower than it says in the description.

Thanks Sara! I definitely like these best out of the range that is available in the wide width. I've already had a look in various departement stores, but hadn't found anything.

Thanks Texstyle! I'm thinking about the brown ones. The only other color available in a wide width is the orange.

I like those for you too. The detailing is nice--more interesting than a plain sandal but not too busy.

Thanks bj1111. I think I'd prefer some neutral color first. I only have my birks so far! I like the white but it's only available in a normal width.

I agree that if this is going to be your main sandal, then a neutral color is probably most useful (at least that's what I've found). I wear my cognac sandals 80% of the time even though I've recently added blue and red sandals to my wardrobe. I think the blues will get more use for me than the red, but only time will tell.

Thumbs up! They will be flat enough, I'm sure of it. That particular Clarks heel is very comfy.

Thanks Texstyle! You're right, the brown ones would work very well as a main sandal, I'm sure. I think adding some colored sandals later on would be great, but I don't have the budget for it now and need some sandals that work with everything for the time being.

Unless you have a foot problem that would prevent you from wearing heels, I wouldn't be concerned about something that low. I remember reading someplace that a low heel (1 inch, maybe?) is healthier than a completely flat shoe. It's been a long time since I read that, though, so perhaps I should google that up and verify it.

My fave color of the bunch is that purple. I understand needing a few neutrals in our wardrobes, however, and the importance of fit.

I'm a HUGE Clarks fan Astrid - in my experience, one of the most comfortable brands of footwear (at least for me). I really like these for your style and don't think they're too busy at all. They have interesting detail but not OTT. I also like the baby wedge heel. Definitely worth a try.

Thanks T-Rex and Shannon! I've ordered the brown ones in a wide 37 1/2. I hope the size works out. I can see how that small a heel shouldn't normally be a problem, but I'm used to wearing flats only. They need to be comfortable for lots of walking, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope they work out. I wouldn't think the height is too much, as long as the wedge isn't too narrow. Cute sandals.

Astrid, I have incredibly fussy feet (to the point that Clarks, a brand known for their comfort-level shoes is uncomfortable for me) and I have discovered that a bit of a heel (just a tiny tiny heel) works better for me than a completely flat shoe (like converse shoes, ballet flats and flat sandals). Give the little wedge a chance!

I don't know German at all, but is 4 cm on the description referring to heel height? It certainly doesn't look it at all. Taking into account the slight platform, I would guess the height is closer to 2 - 3 cm. Actually, 4 cm is probably the sweet spot for me in terms of heel height. A flatter shoe requires more arch support or something. A higher shoe makes my feet slide forward. I could walk all day in sandals with the heel height of those Clarks.

Thanks Irene! I like wearing flat shoes, but your options are definitely limited if you don't consider heels at all. I'm going to give them a try provided that they are comfortable when I wear them at home.

Donna, 4 cm refers to the heel height, yes. And I agree, it looks much lower in the pictures! I don't think I could do a 4cm heel comfortably.

They came today and they don't fit. You were right, the wedge wouldn't be a problem, but they are still way too tight across the toes and the straps are positioned badly. Now I hope those ballet flats work out!
