What do you think about these boots?

I keep being drawn to boots like these:

but I've hesitated because I'm already 5'9" so they would make me pretty tall which I'm used to when I get dressed up for church, but not as much for day to day dressing. Also, in most brands I've seen, they come in black and a tan color and maybe brown. These were interesting because I liked the red version. In the reviews I've read, the red is more like a brownish burgundy which I think would be a good color. I'm trying not to buy anymore black and I usually wear clothes that are a cooler color, so I don't think the tan would be good. Anyway, this is pretty wordy, I'm just wondering if you think these are a Yay or Nay.

I like them. I wonder though what the mink looks like IRL. Once you waterproof them they'll darken a bit, won't they?

Yay, they look super comfy! and height, heck, at 5,'9" you cannot hide anyway. I would hate being restricted for being too tall in shoes you love! I say, the small platform height keeps the material out of the wet so you need it,

These sort of desert booties are really versatile I think, and I like the colour! It's almost a neutral but also gives a pop of colour!

Okay, fellow Tower of Pisa....this is my quest, too! At 5'9", there is no turning back! Over the years, when I was more of a "stay at home/professional volunteer" kind of gal, I had lots of excuses to wear sneakers and flats. I craved the fun and elegance of heels but unless there was an occasion, I didn't go there. Once my kids were up and out (and my toe had been dipped in the fashion business), I decided---noticed the word "decided" that I was going to really dress for me and what I wanted to project. That meant whether I had an "occasion" or not, I went for it. I've added, over the last 5 years, some of hte most amazing heels (boots, vintage stacked peep toes, great wedges, great espadrilles (love that these are back) AND boots! I have to say that I have an amazing array of fun flats and ballet shoes that I also love but when I needt a boost, ha!---pun intended!---I grab my heels. These are darling and sounds like the color would be a nice sublte of pop over a bright red. Wear them to the grocery store, to return library books, and out for pizza. Just enjoy the air up there!

Thank you Kappy, Jayne, Milkz, Jyoti, and Faux Pas! That's good advice to "own" being tall. I'm not sure how practical these boots are, but I keep looking at them, so maybe I should go for it. I'm a big sucker for shoes anyway, but don't have much in the way of boots, which is kindof funny since I live in Canada. I'm a CA girl at heart and I think I'm in denial even though I've lived in Canada for 20 years! haha I think I'll start a thread to ask Angie what she thinks about the color before I order. Thanks for the moral support girls!!

I think they're gorgeous. I personally love heeled desert boots (and oddly I really don't like the original flat ones) but don't have any because I can't handle wearing the heel height. If you are good with heels, I say go for it!

(I can't really speak to the being tall thing, as I am shy of 5'4", but I do think it's awesome when my tall friends rock the high heels!)

So, I went to try these on over the weekend. They have the black and mink colored ones here in the store in Canada, so I thought I'd see if they were comfy, like Angie asked. I tried on the mink color, although I would have ordered the red ones. Unfortunately, they were not comfortable I felt like I was standing on the balls of my foot, so unfortunately, these won't work. It's too bad too, because I really liked how they looked and even got a unsolicited compliment from a random shopper in the store Thanks for everyone's help. I'll keep looking...

BTW, could someone tell me how to edit the title of a post, I can't see anyway to do that and I've seen other people do it. I would have added that I was doing an update some it wouldn't look like I was asking the question again. TIA!

Aw, so sorry to hear they were not comfy - but at least it saved you some trouble!

To edit my titles, I usually just click on "edit post." Maybe too much time has elapsed and you can't edit anymore? IDK...

I vote buy, these are nice!
Don't worry about appearing too tall. Im 5'8" and wear 3-4 inch heels all the time

ETA: I see I just did the very thing you were concerned with LOL

My dd's (23 and 19) are both 5'10"-5"11 ish and have up to 5' heels in the closet! (Yikes!) They embrace their height since people already know they are tall.

Interestingly both their boyfriends are both around 5'5' (my height). They are not bothered by the height difference and tell them that a heel isn't gonna make or break the deal now anyway...LOL

Thanks Zapotee and Kim! I would have bought them if they would have been comfortable. I just found a different pair that are comfortable but are black. I'm thinking about those... Kim, that's pretty interesting about your daughters and their boyfriends! My DH is 6 ft (I think more like 5'11" these days) and I feel pretty tall around him when I where heels! lol I think I need to be braver during the week and just be tall.
