What do you think about mixing metals?

I just feel like mixing silver and gold doesn't work if they are two separate pieces. I have cute shoes that have gold embellishment and I feel like silver earrings just wouldn't match. Thoughts?

Love mixing metals, I do it almost daily! Sometimes with 3+ metals. If it's earrings and shoes, they're so far apart I really don't think it's a big deal :}

It wouldn't worry me. Earrings generally aren't that big, and they're really far away from your feet. But I'm not a particularly big fan of matchy-matchy, so it might bother me less than it would bother others. If your style is very polished and put-together, then I could see why you might want to match your earrings to your shoes.

How big are the silver earrings in question? In my experience, people don't even notice your earrings unless they're huge and shiny, or so long they nearly graze your shoulders. Small tasteful silver hoops, or even relatively big but slim silver hoops, just aren't going to be that noticeable. Unless you also have a pixie.

Love it. I especially love mixing metals close together (le GASP)! Like gold and silver bracelets, for example.

I don't pay much attention to the rule about not mixing metals. They're all neutrals, so mix to your heart's content!

I used to never mix metals pre-YLF, but like harmonica and Ornella, this forum has turned my opinion. I don't do it much because I have much more silver accessories, but I have combined a gold belt with silver jewelry.
