What do we think of this wedding dress?

It's totally not what I had in mind, but I think it's flattering on my figure and photographs well. If I choose this one, I will have the train removed because I don't want all that material hanging around.

I'm still shopping around and haven't committed to anything, so I would appreciate all thoughts and comments! Thank you!

Very pretty! I love that mermaidy shape and the draping effect is very flattering. The only thing I am not crazy about is the shoulders... I think I want them to be a little further apart, for a slightly wider neckline.

The back is lace and buttons up. Here's a stock photo. Again I would have all that extra fabric removed because I don't want a big dress at all!

Thanks ladies! We've been engaged for two years and have finally started planning. We're getting married on August 5th. It will be a tiny wedding (45 people max) so I'm trying to find a rather understated dress because this wedding isn't a huge party. I refuse to wear a strapless dress, which makes things hard, plus my size isn't making the search easier. I'm not completely sold on this dress yet, but when I look at it in pictures, it looks way better than anything else I've tried on!

I like it--- but I almost feel like it is a case of "put the bigger girl in the ever so slightly matronly dress" I think it is the fact that it covers so much of the chest and shoulder, which is a very pretty area of your body. I too like dresses with some sort of top, but this one plus the poofy back and the lace and satin and beads seems maybe a little "much".

I like it! I am also someone who is sick of all the strapless and sleeveless wedding dresses out there. (When I got married a few years ago I too had a horrible time finding something that wasn't the usual strapless bandeau, and ended up making my own dress.) And I think the lace straps are a nice compromise - not too mumsy but flattering on you and really sweet. And the ruching is really cute too.

It's a pretty dress, and the draped fabric across the ribcage and hips is flattering. And I love the little buttons all up the back. I don't love the shape of the lace part, though. The lacy straps (sleeves?) and neckline don't do it for me. But wedding dresses are such a personal thing, and you may love that shape. It's not that it's unflattering on you, it's just that sweetheart necklines are not my cup of tea, because they're so....sweet. And I'd go for more of a sleeve, with a deeper ballet neckline, or else no straps at all. Your neck and shoulders are beautiful, so why no show them off?

Is the lace nice quality? Or is it stiff and plasticky-looking? I can't tell that from the picture.

I'm not trying to put you off -- just offering my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. If you choose that dress, you will indeed look beautiful!

You look beautiful. I love the sweetheart neckline in lace and then the draping around the bust in a plain fabric, and then that stunningly elegant back with that row of buttons. I think your instinct to remove the extra fabric of the train is spot on, if you're aiming for elegant as well as youthful. (and in case you care to continue using it as eveningwear, very versatile too)

Love the dress! My wedding dress also has a sweetheart neckline even though it doesn't have (unfortunately ) those adorable lace straps. I think sweetheart is very flattering on you !

I am thinking from your comments that you are not a really small girl - I would never have thought that from the pic. I think the dress is beautiful on you. I like the romantic look of the lace and the sweetheart neckline. The draping at the waist and on the skirt is very flattering. If you aren't completely sure, keep shopping and keep it as your fall-back plan. I think you look gorgeous in it though.

I think it's a lovely dress, but I think I see Elisabeth's point -- I wish the neckline were a little more open. It seems just a wee bit too covered up. I'm sure you don't want a hugely cleavage-revealing wedding gown, but I think the bodice of this skews just a *little* too prim, at least for me. I think a little bit of sexy in a wedding gown is nicel

However, I know that we all have different comfort levels with necklines -- if this one feels right to you, feel free to ignore me!

It looks lovely, but hold out until you really feel it. And no matter the size of the wedding if you want an over the top dress you wear it. I wore my silk and hand embroidered dress on the beach

We are all excited to have a bride to play with, aren't we YLFers! I applaud your instinct to pass on all the strapless gowns out there. Some of them are gorgeous, but a little variety would be nice! My favorite aspect of this gown is the wrapped effect at the waistline, which creates a "virtuous" but womanly silhouette. The neckline has aspects of what they called "queen anne" in the 70-s. Now, I tried on 60 gowns. yup. I was having fun, partly because I fit in most of the samples fairly well. When I found the "one", which ended up being a discounted sample, I knew it right away. Oh -- I also suggest honoring your budget, even for this big day. I think a bride should have a beautiful dress on her body, but still keep a little money in her pocket! For savings, or maybe a great pair of boots!

This dress is beautiful on you. I really like the neckline and lace detailing near your face. Does the train bustle? I left my train down for the ceremony then bustled it for the reception. I did not have a long train so the bustle wasn't large and I never noticed it once it was tucked away. Bustling the train may be an option versus removing it.

Lovely! This is a very traditionally pretty, flattering dress on you. If you're not in love with it, though, I would hold off and keep searching. When you've exhausted your possibilities, definitely come back to this one! The neckline sparkle is beautiful, and the draping is different. Nice find!
