What do we think of brown leather leggings?

I love my Lysse leggings and wear them all winter. I am eying this brown pair to go with my new boots and for a change of black... But will they look too "nude for me"? They are darker than my skin tone, at least from the pic, but there's nothing worse than that double take moment when the match is too close.

Thoughts?

Do you wear much brown Una? In my mind I can't see you in brown, in my minds eye it clashes with your hair ???

Una, I have to disclose I am not a lover of brown tones so I am probably influenced by that:(. I would need to see them on and combined with the tones Angie mentioned before I was convinced

I think we should all start book ending our faces if this works out. I already have blue, so I want brown leather too. I guess I'm going for a spray tan first, and then the leather pants!

Brown is gorgeous with burgundy, and you wear that. I vote yay.

My first instinct is say no to most shades of brown for my wardrobe. I have couple of pieces and I don't really pick them. the only relatively useful item are dark chocolate brown tights. I mostly ( the only way) wear them with my turquoise/aqua dresses.

I have never thought about mixing it with blacks,grays or burgubdy. Last one seems really appealing to me and I have lots of burgundy...

So basically, I am saying I would like to see I would be interested in seeing you on above mentioned combos to suggest any thing.
But thanks for asking it, now I have some ideas to try too.

Bookend my face! That is why I love leopard prints. I have freckles. I say brown is always a winner in my books but I love brown. And I love brown and purple tones together.

I do actually worry that these would read as what I call "nakey pants". It's amazing how hard our brains want to believe someone isn't wearing pants, even if the skintone isn't close.

But, if I remember right, you cover your butt and front in leggings, right? Nakey pants only turn my head when the butt shows.

I don't think you'll look naked! Besides as Traci says, so long as your butt and crotch are covered by the top, who cares? I'd love to find actual nude-for-me leggings to wear as a tights alternative but maybe that's just me.

That said I'm not generally a fan of brown. Every one of the (few) brown items I've owned has turned into an orphan even though technically it's a good color for me. Since we like a lot of the same colors it might be an issue for you too.

(ETA: although I do have a tweed skirt that LOOKS brown from a distance that I like and don't have problems pairing. Something about the fact that the tweed is actually lots of colors so it feels less flat brown or something. So perhaps if the texture on these is more pronounced it might be easier to pair?)

I have a bit of the same issue as Diana -- I have been cautious about adding brown back into my wardrobe because I just find black so much easier to work with. Given the exact same item in black and any other color, even something as neutral as navy, I nearly always choose the black when it comes time to make an outfit.

I think brown is a great neutral and goes with just about everything but it hasn't felt current to me for several years. I love Angie's examples and that she says warm tones are coming back so maybe brown as a neutral is too. I say try them, can't hurt.

I struggle with brown on myself but find it so chic. I think you should try them. Actually this is a timely post for me because I have a very old pair of brown high waist, wide leg pants that I have never worn but always save from the donate pile at the last minute. The only thing wrong with them is that brown is not a color I wear. But, I love these pants and if they were black I would have worn them constantly. Now that wide legs are popular I tried them with a black top and I could make them work so I'm keeping them for now. I'm going to play with some of the other color pairing suggestions here too.

I'd check the color, but as Angie noted, brown goes with a lot. I am still sitting out pairing it with black. I tried once, and no fewer than three people took me aside to tell me they don't match.

I think these are worth a try. I personally love rich brown paired with black, as well as with gray, citron, tomato red, certain shades of blue... probably lots of options in your own closet. The pants are definitely dark enough that they will not appear "nude for you"... but I am cracking up over the "bookending your face" comments.

Thanks all! I have struggled with brown too and have only one pair of brown footwear. I'm waffling but all the input is helpful. Black will always be my anchor color but it does get a bit monotonous in our long winters...

Hah! I bookend my face all the time (no joke); much more comfortable bookending skin vs. hair as you know. I think if the brown is very rich and saturated it could work fabulously with your black, gray, and brights. If muted, less so. I'm not super into brown either but have also been considering similar pants.
