I just found myself going down my own memory lane on my "Inc Ponte Knit Pants Review" thread. Now I want to know: what did YOU wear on your first date with your SO?

If you don't currently have an SO, or you want to answer this question too, what about your very first date ever? Or first kiss?

With significant events I tend to remember what I was wearing. Yes, even in absence of a camera! Do you?

It needn't be romantic events either. I can remember exactly what I was wearing on 9/11 as well.

Wow, I didn't think I'd be able to remember, but a little effort brought back a positive flood of memories! I remember wearing a clingy ivory dress with diagonal black stripes on it for my first date with Corey...I think I even recall wearing a necklace consisting of various silver stars.
This led me to recall what I wore on my first date with my previous boyfriend (black and white skirt, black tank, dark pink cardigan).
First day of work in my current news room saw me wearing a black and turquoise suit. I was especially excited to wear it, since it was my first true business outfit being worn to the first real job in the field I wanted. Ironically, it proved to be the most casual office I have ever worked in.
Wow, a whole bunch of firsts are coming back now, some of which I bet were downright awful-looking, so I'll shut it down right here.

I can't remember what I wore on my first date, but I do remember what I was wearing when I met my husband:
a green striped mock turtleneck sleeveless top that buttoned down the back, baggy Osh Kosh B'Gosh overalls, and white 20 hole Doc Martens.
Good times!

I remember! We went on a day date: lunch and a movie. I wore a pair of light brown bootcut jeans (I've never owned colored jeans since) and a red cashmere turtleneck sweater, which was a hand-me-down from mom. It was still in good condition, super comfy and soft. It didn't fit her anymore so she had given it to me. I also had pair of oxfords similar to these but the heels were platform:

I remember feeling great in those jeans. They really fit me well. I wonder if I would still think the same way if I could take a look at the pictures from that time.:) I am pretty sure the sweater was too short, it barely covered the waistband of my jeans.:) But don't laugh, this was almost 10 years ago, tops were pretty short then:)

First date ever I wore a long sleeved dark blue T-shirt I made myself tucked into a blu-ish tartan skirt with a built in elastic belt. Plus I presume opaque black tights and either brogues (oxfords?) or flat mary-janes.

oh, I remember exactly-- My first date with my husband was 20 years ago and I proudly donned my purple and black knit short skirt (I"m thinking it might have even been polka dotted), with a cute purple top. I think I had black tights and black shoes too. I sure wish I had a picture of that outfit!

Oh, I remember what I wore on my first date with Brian. He actually took a picture of me that night so I have documentation! My outfit was really simple and my "uniform" back then -- jeans, nice black top, and nice sandals. I had a big turquoise bag too and big earrings. My typical uniform. (I just looked at the picture and I was SO much thinner, wow. I can't believe he's still with me. Ha.)

Brian was a total fashion disaster back then and he had the WORST shoes I have ever seen... so on our first date, after a sushi dinner, I took him to the mall and we bought him new shoes. No joke.

First "date" with SO: New jeans that my sister and her SO went shopping with me to buy, black heeled boots, black silk cardigan with black cami underneath.

Because we live in different cities, it wasn't a date per se, but a train trip up to spend the weekend. Five years and hundreds of train rides later, I remember it like it was yesterday...

My first date with Ben was 10 years ago, I was new to Scotland and when I first saw him I was floored, I loved the way he looked and the way he moved.

On our first date we met at the pub his family owned, I wore a knee length green suede skirt and polo neck with the black high heeled pull on boots that were everywhere at that time.

He wore a fitted white shirt, slim fit blue jeans and black chelsea boots.

We chatted until six in the morning!

Today is my 14th wedding anniversary. I remember the wedding outfit (white sundress, black sandals, black jacket that tied in back - eloped in Vegas) but not the "first date" outfit which would have been 1985.
I do remember black skinny jeans and these burgundy short boots he hated...might have been wearing those.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's memories! It fascinates me that so many of us remember vividly what we wore. I guess falling in love will do that to you?

I found a pic of me and my DH on the 1-year anniversary of our first date. Not our first date, but we went to the same restaurant and I wore the same outfit to commemorate it:

The outfit is pretty boring, standard minimalist 90s look. My hair cracks me up. It is in a seriously flippy do. Meanwhile, DH hasn't allowed his hair to go gray yet.

I don't remember what I was wearing for my first date with my husband - he was a friend of my brother's/of the family's and we were out doing an errand together and he asked me to dinner right then and there. I DO remember thinking I was glad I was decently dressed! I suppose that approach took some of the stress out of getting ready...

I do remember what I was wearing when he proposed (skirt and sweater) and at our rehearsal dinner (denim pencil skirt and green top) and all kinds of other special days.

Oh what a cute photo!! Wow, that is a flippy do - my hair does that sometimes too and it makes me feel like a Stepford wife.

I just asked my husband what I wore on our first date (13 years ago) because I honestly couldn't remember. He seemed to recall it a little better than me - he said something about a "blood red" & "sexy" sleeveless top and black jeans. I remember that I asked him out on the date (and paid!) to a wonderful Italian restaurant in Boulder and then we met up with some friends at a dance club in Denver. He was so adorable - I remember as we left the restaurant, we tried to put his arm around my shoulders but he hesitated so his arm kind of went up and down a few times behind me before he committed to going for it!

I don't remember what I was wearing. My first "date" with Brendan didn't start out as a date really. A big group of us went out to some bars for drinks, and then went back to Brendan's apartment to chat, and everyone eventually left, and Brendan and I were still chatting. We were hungry, and he was a bachelor (so of course had no food in the house), and we ended up going to Denny's because it was the only place open at 4:30 in the morning. I had kind of liked him up to that point (although, not the kind of crush that you think about when you're going to see that person again and plan outfit and hair accordingly), so I can't remember what I wore. I did really like him after our date though. I do remember what he was wearing--Doc Marten ankle boots, faded jeans and a brown chenille knit v-neck sweater his mum had sent him for Christmas. Since it was pre-YLF, we probably both looked pretty awful. Fun times though.

Ana, dates like that ending up being the most romantic. Love the chenille sweater Mum bought Brendan, I haven’t heard the word chenille for a long time!

So my first date with hubby was 22 years ago. I was wearing a tomato red skirt, red fisherman’s knit tunic tube jumper with huge shoulder pads over a red and white striped button down shirt. The sleeves were scrunched up and the collar was popped. My hair was in a French plait and I had white oxford lace ups on over little rolled down red socks. This was 1987 (*chuckle*). Got to love the 80's.

Oh Shiny, is that brown lipstick you are wearing in your date photo, I remember little of the make up of the nineties other than having a lipstick in every shade of brown.

Angie, I would love a pair of white oxfords today and french plaits are very of the moment (never managed to master them myself).

I don't remember what Andrew and I wore on our first date (we lived in the same building anyway, so it was hardly "dating" in the traditional sense), but I remember what we were wearing when we first met. It was at a residence event at our university (I was in first year, he was on exchange from his uni in England), and everyone was supposed to dress as crazily as they could. I went 80's with a crocheted lime green, white and blue striped tube top with a hot pink mini skirt, leggings and heels, all borrowed from girls on my floor. If I recall, I also had massive teased hair and crazy 80's makeup.

Most of the guys went to this event in drag, and some went really far out- stuffed bras, shaved legs, makeup- the works. Andrew was having none of that- he wore his usual "uniform" of a vintage band tee, hip-hugging 70's jeans and converse. As a nod to the occasion, he wore a dress on top of this- a floral thing that looked like it could be your Grandmother's nightie. It was so funny, just thrown on as an afterthought. (Actually, I still have this dress, somewhere in my room at my parents' house!)

It's so much fun reading these. I can't remember what I wore on our first date but it was 1968. My husband's favorite outfit on me was a pair of low rise hot pink knit bell bottoms and a hot pink woven top with white polkadots with a big ruffle around the neckline and elastic bottom that was fringed with hot pink pompoms that swung when I moved. The top showed my bare midriff and is probably the sexiest thing I've ever owned. I wore white strappy sandals with this. It was a fun outfit for a night of 60's dancing. Ah, memories.

Angie - no wasn't first date with DH. Was first date ever. To see Dead Poet's society.
DH and I were good friends for a long time before we got together. We did kind of see each other for about 7 friday nights in a row before he asked me out, but there were always other people there (except the last one, where his flatmate didn't turn up!) I do remember wearing a white turtleneck top (still have it) with a pink rectangular scarf at some point in those 7 weeks while trying to get his attention! He asked me out by phone and then asked me if I wanted to join him and a friend at the pub - very low key.

What a fun thread! My first date with B. was actually our first time seeing each other in person since we met online, so we went out for coffee (or tea, in my case.) I wore what was my staple casual outfit at the time - dark wash bootcut jeans, brown leather flats, an emerald green V-neck sweater, silver hoop earrings, and a long necklace.

My husband and I didn't really go on dates. We were in college and he didn't have any money. But like Ana, I do remember our first "date" as doing something together with other people, and then some how ending up lying on the floor of my dorm room, just us talking. I have no idea what I was wearing, but I'm sure it was some form of band t-shirt, jeans, plaid flannel button down-- a la 90's grunge style-- and probably less than an inch of hair on my head.

My first date with Bryan was in March of 2004. The first time we met I was wearing denim capris rolled up, pink flip flops, dark and light pink striped shirt, pink belt, and very short spiky hair. Our first date a few days later, I wore black pinstripe trousers, black mary janes, black faux wrap INC top with pink polka dots.
I was in a pink phase, apparently.
We met through a mutual friend and got to know one other over the phone/email before I went to visit him for a week. I can recall every single thing I wore, but I won't trouble you with all of that.

I can't remember at all what I wore when I dated Hubby; we were friends at work first, then started sharing a cab home and dinners, then finally went on a real date, kissed -- and I moved in that day. We've been together ever since, so...1995?

I do remember he used to wear black turtlenecks with a chunky cross on a black leather strap. And a tiny hoop earring. Oh, how I hated that whole look! He stopped with the earring at my request, but the turtlenecks lingered on for far too long. Then he went through his heavy era, and now he wears sharp colored button-down shirts or colored polos. Lots and lots of colors -- he looks so good!

I am sure I wore a pair of tragic heavy black shoes and some kind of thick, ugly sweater. I had a LOT of those back then.

We worked together, so I remember what I was wearing when we first met. My interview outfit - charcoal slacks, white tuxedo shirt, houndstooth jacket, all thrifted. And black oxfords - it was mid-nineties. The jacket was actually a men's blazer, sort of like "boyfriend" style
