What Did You Used to Look Like?

I am curious how those of you who have been using this site consistently have transformed your personal style in the past years or months and would love to see before and after photos. Maybe your "before" photo is your first WIW posting or just one that really represents how you presented yourself on a daily basis. The "after" photo would be one that best represents your current daily personal style. Thanks for sharing!

My style hasn't necessarily changed, but it has definitely refined and I'm also branching out more and trying new and different things.

I've been thinking about putting together a before/after album for a while (a couple people have suggested this before). Maybe I should get on that.

I posted this "before" and "after" YFL photo awhile back, to show the little changes I have made to my style and how that take an outfit up a notch. I don't think I have any real good pictures of outfits prior to discovering YLF, but had fun creating this before and after! I will see if I can locate my post!

Paige, I don't have any "before" photos because it took me a long time to feel brave enough to post any photos at all. But I know that I used to have a terrible habit of wearing my clothes too large and not bothering to get them altered (or rather, not even realizing they needed to be altered.)

All throughout university I LIVED in this uniform: Jeans, hoodie, fashion sneakers, hair in a pony tail. That was all I wore. Jeans every single day. Sneakers every single day. Hair tied back always. That has SO changed. (I was also much thinner, but let's not talk about that!)

Sarah, your style is a refined/polished look (I've noticed that in your other photos posted too) and your outfits look like they have direction and that you seem to know what looks good on you. Did you have that sense of direction before? Your figure has transformed amazingly by the way!

Carole, your before photo is "nice" (very easy to look at and actually what I would think is well put together) but your after photo is very noticeable. I see that difference in women a lot; women who look nice and then those who seem to have that extra za-za-zing.

I don't have any TRUE before photos either April. and in fact I am still aiming to figure it out more but I have to say there has been a change, the biggest one being I can (usually) see the reasons why an outfit isn't working and tweak it now instead of standing in front of the mirror frustrated and not knowing why it doesn't look and feel good.

I don't have any before photo's either,..don't have a scanner and probably couldn't figure it out but...

In the 80's and early 90's I had hair almost to my mid back and permed within an inch of it's life.

Prior to YLF I avoided all cameras like the plague!! So sadly I have no before photos, but basically it was a uniform of wide leg trousers and baggy jumpers in the hope of hiding the difference between my teeny waist and larger hips. Now I'll give pretty much anything a go! x

I love Tarzy's 80's photo. Is that wrong? The style would look out of place now, but in its context I think it is glamorous!

Also I love Carole's subtle tweaking photo. The little things make all the difference.

I don't have my before pictures, but it wasn't good. I don't know that it's that good now either, but I'm getting there. I think that the biggest difference for me is that I find it a lot easier to go shopping and tell before even trying things on what will and won't work. I am a lot pickier about what I bring into my closet, and I'm more adventurous with accessories, shoes, etc. My goal used to be to not stick out and hide my figure as much as possible. Those aren't my goals anymore.

I love seeing people's pictures! Carole - your two pictures are a great example of going from very pretty to very fab. I wouldn't have looked at the first picture and thought that there was anything "wrong" with what you were wearing, but I prefer the second picture and it shows more personality. Marianna - I continue to love your outfit combinations and confidence! Tarzy - you looked great in the 80s. As wilson said, very "of the moment." Sarah - I have to say that I really like your before & after photos.

Can you believe I wore a fanny pack like that to Disneyland? I was horrified when I saw that picture and realized just how dumpy I looked the entire trip.

A v-neck t-shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers was pretty much my 'momiform' (that's a word for a mom's uniform!) for years. Sometimes I'd dress it up a little with sandals or boots, but at one time I owned something like 11 of the exact same v-neck t-shirts from Target.

I'm not saying I still don't wear t-shirts or jeans like that, but I when I do, I try to at least put on some fun jewelry or better shoes.

Ooh fun1 YLF has helped me think outside the bx.

I used to put my outfits together with a big dose of BORING! See Exhibit A for a typical "Tara" look. Jeans, t-shirt/boring top, often a scarf or pashmina, and bangles was about as far as I went accessorizing.

I joined about six months ago. I think this was my first outfit and it really took some effort on my part. I actually like the colors, but there are a lot of things I could have done to improve it. I think it was this post that caused someone (queenie) to gently suggest I get rid of the sweater, and I did. I thought the color was great, but I didn't pay attention to the fit at all. I'm a rectangle and I had no idea how to dress to flatter my figure.

Here's a more recent outfit. I don't think the change is monumental, but I've learned how to mix and match and use accessories. I also understand my shape better and wear more structured or woven tops. I find it a lot easier to get dressed, I literally used to cry in the morning because it was so hard for me! Now I actually enjoy it. Sometimes I find I'm wearing clothing I've had for years, I just understand how to put it together better than I used to.

(and I'm actually kind of depressed, since many of you looked "before" better than I look "now"...)

I don't have much to contribute, since I haven't really evolved. I'm a fairly new member, though, so I guess that I'm not a lost cause after all. But honestly, I'm very, very far from looking my best. Hmm, that gives me an idea about starting a new topic...

This has been a great thread. The before and after photos are amazing! What big changes! Everyone looks great!

I've only been a member for a few short months so my style evolution is still in it's infancy.
