What color handbag for Fall? - YouLookFab Forum

I picked up this buckled bag for a song this weekend, thinking it'd be great for a DIY project. With the edgy straps, structured (for me) shape, and long (again, for me) shoulder drop, I was thinking it would be a good Fall bag... but what color?

My first instinct is bright red or a true white, since I currently have neither in my bag collection... but do I already wear too much red? And would white be bad for winter or too neutral for my already-neutral winter wardrobe? I am also tempted to attempt citron, though I'd have to mix the color myself, and it might be too close in color to my bright yellow flower bag.

I've included pics of my cold-weather outfits from last year. As you can see, it's mostly black, charcoal, chocolate with some pops of red.

ETA pic of my F/W bags... the cream I'm not sure about anymore - had bought it off Ebay last year thinking it'd be white (was reimbursed some $ for the mistake). Considering re-dying that to a better color as well...

I vote for red ... or maybe a mustard yellow

I am slightly biased though; I have been dying for a mustard yellow bag!

After seeing today's photo spread by Bill Cunningham in the New York Times I'd say a bright cobalt blue.

First of all, IMO you can never have enough red. It's a personal favorite for many reasons. I like the white actually and it would pop with many of your posted outfits. I'm personally considering something in the metallic copper arena, but with the brass hardware on your bag I'd do a bold color. I like cobalt... Ok I'm no help at all. Throw a dart at a color wheel and go with it.

rosee, just posted a pic of my cold weather bags... I also have a burgundy one in storage with gold designs on it. I left my two other black bags out as they are color repeats.

Thanks! Now I vote RED! Burgundy is not red, though close enough in some outfits some of the time. You have 2 blues (I would've said cobalt otherwise) and lots of neutrals. Red can also act like a neutral, but you knew that.
I vote "Morello Cherry" or "Red" though I like the darker shade better.
p.s. I love my red bag (vintage Coach messenger from ebay -- I wear it way more than I ever thought I would).

I'm also in Camp Never Enough Red. And I also want to go rogue and vote for the Pine Needle color. I love the lushness of a good green.

I know this might clash with some of your red outfit pieces, but what about an orange-red? Not like coral, but something a lot more saturated like the color on these flats. It would look great with the gold hardware. Whatever you choose, please show us the results!
