What color dress would go with black and gold tights?

Even though it's still in the peak of summer and I won't wear them anytime soon, I recently purchased some tights. They were on sell and I adore bunnies. But I'm new to wearing dresses. I'm not sure what kind of dress color/type would match them. (I don't know of a black dress would be too much black all together.) I included pictures from the website. Any thoughts?

They are gorgeous!

Obvious color choice is black - satin, velvet, brocade, lace.
Or gold - also in a luxury fabric.
Black AND gold - plaid taffeta, brocade, florals.
The more I think about it, you could do any color if you kept the fabric rich.

Or go against the obvious and try with white cotton.

They’re so much fun, I’m inclined to think any colour dress. I agree with Sloper that the dress fabric should be rich, if you will. Nothing tepid. Not a casual cotton knit.

I would prefer to go gold as I agree with you that there may be too much black otherwise, but then black can be very elegant for evening. I wear it quite often for evening events. I find I don’t wear my dresses that much so have not bought any for 2 years.

Jewel tones velvet or dressed down with denim.

Those tights are definitely show stoppers.

Planning an outfit around those would stymie me. What I’d probably do, assuming the colors work well with the rest of my pallet, is ignore the colors and just wear them whenever I’d usually wear black tights. They might pick up colors elsewhere in the outfit, tying it all together, or they might contrast nicely, like Irina’s yellow shoes in her recent post with the otherwise blue outfit, or the bags Bijou often pairs with her outfits. Both strategies are good, and easy to do if your colors generally all go together. Eventually you’ll see which items they go with best, and when not to reach for them.

Thank you everyone for your input! I've found some dresses that im trying to choose between. I like Sloper's suggestion of brocade (didn't realize how much i love that pattern). And i most definitely will take Kkards' suggestion to dress it down with denim shorts as i do prefer to dress more casual most of the time.

I like the idea of dressing them up with gold or black dresses (or even a white dress could be fun) but then you could use kkard's idea of using denim shorts or a denim dress.
