What color boots go nicely with blackberry color trench?

Since it's in the purple color family, I'd bet that gray or pewter metallic would look great with it. Bronze or saturated brown night work too.

San, anything would go. Cognac would be divine. I have a plum colored wool coat and that is what I am looking for in boots. It is hard to find. I think any neutral would work, I would stay from too much of a saturated color depending on the shade of blackberry.
I always love shades of brown, great with your new hair!!

Thankyou. It sounds like it shouldn't be difficult to wear my normal range of colors with the blackberry. I do have black suede knee high boots, and a brown knee high pair. Both pair are the casual riding boot type I bought last year and really didn't wear very much.
I love the look of congac boots with a black coat ever since Angie mentioned that combo a while back. It seems that the congac leather boots are difficult to come by, and I already have black and brown so I guess I will be set!
GG thankyou for advising me to stay away from too much of a saturated color. You may have saved me from splurging on a deep red purse I saw at NAS.

Actually, I take that back, I took a look at the red and I think it is too cool a red, tomato works really well with anything purplish (IMO)

San, I'm paying attention to this thread because I'm eying the same trench in the same colour... And I'm wondering what colour clothing I should avoid wearing with it. Are there certain colours or outfits it would clash with?
Glad you asked about the accessories, as I'm after a black bag and black boots (burgundy too, but that likely won't work).

San, do you not like the trench in black with your coloring? Just asking because I have a black satin trench that I have had a couple years and LOVE the versatility of it...from super dressy , to over jeans.

I love the other color ... blackberry ,and would be fab for you...just wondering if it will be as versatile for you in the years to come?

I think you can really have fun with the blackberry color, san! You can dress understated by pairing it with neutrals, or go spunky with a pop of color (orange, turquoise, etc.)

I would definitely go for the blackberry colour San. It is absolutely gorgeous and extremely versatile in my opinion (and I know the colour is very flattering on you). I love black as much as the next girl, but do think that it can look a little harsh against one's face sometimes.

How interesting to read everybody's different take on colours too. I agree with Jean and Angie that tomato red + purple is a stunning combination and probably more of a statement than a blue red + purple, but I like that combo just as much. I even think that same bag (drooling here) in teal would work very well with the blackberry too. You're spoilt for choice San;-)

Shoe/boots colour: greys, metallics, black, many shades of brown, cognac, red, teal, greens, orange, yellow...

Michelle: I honestly can't think of any colour the blackberry would clash with. Maybe burgundy isn't the best colour to pair this with, but otherwise... I am SO hoping you will get the coat too!

Color theory: If a cool color is next to a slightly warmer color both will be enhanced. Same rule goes with complementary colors: Blue-orange, yellow- purple, red -green. You can use versions of complements, red hair and olive green, chocolate brown and teal, yellow ochre(gold) and eggplant, blackberry and tomato-red. They are all versions of complementary contrasts That is why I think that a warmer red with purple being closer to its complement is more interesting and effective. Blue red and purple still work but they are similar temperatures and therefore not as interesting (IM0). The are analogous (next to each other on the color wheel) colors and work very well. I am not surprised that you love tomato red and purple Angie. You have a keen sense of all this color stuff. That being said, exceptions are made all the time and I believe almost any color can work with another if you balance and connect it with others. High end fabrics are great examples of really unusual color combinations.
Anther example is the popular combo of yellow and grey. Grey reads as slightly purple next to yellow because it is its complement.

Thanks for the extra info Jean, I know little about colour theory, but love reading about it! And seeing it put into practice (e.g. Kenzo scarves usually combine all sorts of colours I would never dare put together, but it works AND looks fabulous).
There's no doubt in my mind that tomato red + purple will definitely make a bigger statement. You (and Angie too) have a very keen eye, love it!!

Taylor, I have been wondering just what you brought up, which is that black being a classic trench color, it would go with everything for years on end. I am just afraid it will look harsh on my skin tone at my age.
Now after reading Jean's color theory lesson I am afraid that carrying a blue-red bag with the blackberry trench will make the trench look more "purple". I like a smoky purplish blackberry, not so much a purple trench.
I'll take pictures when I have all of the components and we'll have a look.
Thankyou everyone for helping Michelle and me, and anyone else with the blackberry trench, figure this out.

I am sorry to confuse things, I think your instincts will be the thing that will help you decide and what color you prefer. I think that purple red would also work, especially if you get more use out of that color. It looks like the blackberry of that trench is not a bright purple which will help with coordinating other colors. Please post pictures!

Wow, that trench is amazing and I'm seriously considering ordering it and getting Mike to pick it up for me in store in San Francisco. It's got everything I'm looking for: machine washable, removable lining, removable hood, belted, single breasted, GREAT price....

Black or Blackberry, though? Hmmm! I THINK a size large should fit.
