What COLOR boots? - YouLookFab Forum

Is there a general rule of what color boots/shoes to get as a wardrobe staple? I don't have the budget to buy a million pair of shoes, especially considering all the boots I like are $200+ a pair. So I can only get one or two new pair a season. This season it's boots. My beloved pair of boots need to be replaced. It's also my ONLY pair of boots.

My current pair of boots is black. I love black. But I find myself looking at brown too because I think brown boots are PRETTY. But I don't really have clothes that go with brown shoes. My clothes end up being deep, rich purples, teals, gray, black... I'm a brunette if that makes any difference in shoe color choices.

If you could only get one new pair of boots this season, what would you get? Black or brown? My goal is to get a pair of tall boots and a pair of short boots IF I can ever find some that fit my feet (wide toes, narrow heels, and a different size on each foot. Yeah, tall order, I know). I wear short boots with pants and have wanted tall boots for a couple years now to wear with skirts/dresses.

I love gray. My dominant color scheme is cool colors, lots of black, gray, purple, pink and cool green so gray boots work very well for me. Mine are similar to this:

I was looking for gray tall boots but sadly, couldn't find anything that would fit my budget (also up to 200) AND my skinny calves. I found a tall (otk actually) pair that I love, and I chose black (they also came in the most beautiful chestnut color) but I think black is slightly more versatile for me ... I also got a short pair of black booties to wear with bootcuts and skinnies when tall boots are too dressy. BUT I also have an old pair in camel color (that will probably retire after this winter), if not, I'd get a brown pair instead of one black. Gray is awesome choice as well...

It sounds as though black is the way to go it would be awful to have brown boots and then not have the clothes to wear them with. Grey could also be a good option x

I know how you feel about black (I love it too) but I think grey would be good. It would soften up some of those rich and jewel tones in your wardrobe. I'm also a brunette who favours those colours and my grey suede ankle boots have become my favourite shoes! I just slip them on in the morning and they work great and lighten things up a little bit.

I forgot about gray! I saw a lady last winter with the most sumptuous pair of gray Uggs, and I swore I'd have to find some for myself

OK, I found a pair of short boots (booties) in brown and black. My hubby is telling me to get both (I have an awesome hubby!). Then I can look for tall boots in black or gray.

I think brown for boots is a neutral and can be worn with black/grey/navy/denim/almost anything. My first pair of boots were brown boots which I am wearing to death. My second pair are black ankle boots.

I also have the sumptuous grey Uggs, but I rarely wear them outside the house (although they are going with me on a retreat this weekend, to be worn with a grey & navy striped V-neck sweater, denim skirt, and thick grey cable tights).

I think with the colors in your wardrobe black would work well. Grey would be great also, but it's not quite as classic as black (which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on your viewpoint). Brown reads more rugged or earthy to me. So I'd vote black with grey a close second.

I vote gray. I own two pairs of tall boots and my gray one's are used far more often than my other pair (which is a light tan).

My favorite boots are a warm cognac/brandy color. If I had to give away all of my boots but one, I'd for sure keep this pair. (Part of it is that I really like the way they "bookend" my hair color.)

I vote get a non-black colour. Grey or a shade of brown.

I was on the hunt for boots as well, and settled on cognac color. I put it out for a vote here also. Kari's comments to me were similar to what she has said here and it tipped me over the edge. LOVE this color. They go with black, gray, brown, everything....
