Claire, that's a marvelous idea. Next time I go shopping I'll have to remember to bring a handful of balloons and the neighbour's cat.
On the topic of pets: animal hair is the WORST. It makes me crazy! Luckily we're all desperately allergic to cats, so I don't have to worry about cat hair (which gets everywhere, or so my cat loving friends tell me), but I grew up with a beagle and I know how bad dog hair can be, too. Beagles shed lavishly, and each hair is banded black and white, so it shows up on everything. In fact, when we bought our dear sweet cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle cross) fifteen years ago, part of the appeal was the non-shedding poodle fur. It's more like wool. I was so traumatized by the beagle hair (although I was very fond of the actual beagle) that I insisted on some kind of poodle cross, simply because of the shedding issue.
