I found these sweater clips to rein in my poncho and also to keep open cardigans closed in a cool way. They are not very expensive. It reminds me of the elastics I used as a kid to keep my mittens attached to my coat.
Ordered one to try and it's quite nice - the alligator clips are solid and have rubber teeth so as not to snag, and the knot is a nice weight. It's about 3" long altogether.
