What are your thoughts about Dansko clogs?

I have a pair of plain black Dansko clogs that I haven't worn in more than a year. I have an appointment at the consingment shop tomorrow, and I'm considering taking them in. Of course, just my luck I will take them in and then see Angie blog about how they are all the rage and they make everyone look tall and slender.

Hi Ann, I love them but I do tend to wear them for work or running a quick errand. I know some people think they are a faux pas but I think they are awesome in the right setting. I have a patent black pair and my next ones will be a really cool blue snakeskin pattern I saw

Personally, I'm not a fan, but I understand that they are practically a necessity for some people with very fussy feet or foot problems.

No point keeping them if you don't wear them (and if you don't, you must have enough other super-comfortable shoes). I think of them as shoes for yard work, dog walking, wearing to yoga, etc - not as a fashion thing.

I think this is one of those things where you have to decide for yourself if they still hold any functional value for you. Personally, I have a pair of brown Danskos that I wear with jeans and think they work (and look, if styled right) just fine! But if you aren't wearing them, that's another thing. I think making them look good has a lot to do with what you wear with them. The dreaded "mom jeans" and a hoodie is going to look much different than trying to incorporate them into a fashionable, casual outfit.

I love mine, its all in how you style them. That being said, if you don't wear them theres no point in keeping them.

Personally I can't wear the professional clogs (they're too deep and wide) but I think they look fine so long as you wear them with ppl pants. I see so many women wearing the combo of danskos, too short pants, and ugly white socks around here.

I do have red suede dansko Mary janes that are super fun and get lots of compliments.

They are ubiquitous around here but I like them. I have the Ryders which are not a typical Dansko look and a pair of the professionals in a patent dark red. The only issue for me is that they are treacherous on ice.

Thanks, all. I bought these during a time when I was doing a lot of air travel, and they are great for that -- between taking shoes off for TSA, and long walks between airline gates. But really, I think that's the only time I've ever worn them, and I do think that my jeans are probably too short to wear with them. Taking them in. Thanks!

Ya. If you don't wear them, might as well consign them.

I think the patent clogs are pretty snazzy. 'Course, I have a nasty streak of hipster. Still, I've been moving away from them. I got mine for work because everyone kept telling me they were great for cooks. But I have found real Danskos not at all great for standing eight hours. Not standing in place anyways.
