I've been thinking about this too. I can't believe how far I've come from here:

Thanks to YLF, especially Angie, Suz, Vix & Ana (& the sporty luxe trend) I now have a small but decent casual wardrobe - including a summer one. My clothes really work for my lifestyle, yet feel like me. The best bit is whenever I go shopping I try lots of things that don't look as good as things I already own - yippee

My tracking CPW & JPW (joy per wear) is really paying off too. It is hard work initially but it has brought a new kind of clarity to my buying.
So I think I'm back where I started, still thinking about this quote & how it applies to my clothes:

“Style is the perfection of a point of view.” Richard Eberhart

(albeit with a MUCH better wardrobe)

I am very happy where my wardrobe is at...it is current, true to my style, and my goal for 2015 is to wear what I own. I need very little beyond one new winter coat....I think I'll update my black one with something cashmere, simple, edgy. I'd also like to replace some of my workout gear. Otherwise I'll save most of my clothing budget for a few luxury purchases in NYC when we travel from Oz to visit family in Toronto and NYC next year.

Well this year I've been trying to track what I've bought ( at least for me...) and somehow I've managed to drop about thirty pounds.
Yea! Whoot! Rah rah!
AAAaaaaacckkk!!!!

So . My goals for next year .
1. Get rid of what doesn't fit .( ebay a lot !)
2. Buy good quality , for MY life not a pretty fashion spread. I have to live and work and play in my clothes.
3. Buy what suits my figure and colouring rather than what is convenient.
4. Sew more and complete it.
5. Also try not to spend on too many impulse wantsies (frequently perfumes or accessories) .

I had a pretty good fashion year in 2014. I bought less, bought higher end, and wore the higher end. Bought my first pair of BFs, and moved much closer to my aspirational style. But I fell short a few times. My goals for 2015 are.

1. Stick to my 2 items a month. I started out strong but fell apart in April. Got back on track a couple times. I'm making an exception for NAS.

2. I've been trying to lighten up for summer, but my favorite stuff from last summer was, well, dark. If I see something light that sings to me, I'll buy it. But it won't be a goal.

3. Decrease the size of my wardrobe a little more.

4. Get my wardrobe to $10. CPW. I needed a more concrete goal than wear all of my clothes or wear more often. I've been doing this since October. I've gotten a lot of things into rotation and purged some things that I couldn't see making the goal. Not counting special occasion. For some higher end, the goal is 8-10 wears.

Thanks for the links back, Caro! These were my 2013 goals:

1) Stop boredom buying
2) Purge until everything in storage is cleared out
3) Invest in some PPP basics - by which I mean, really put out to find and get altered well-fitting, high quality basics

Well, I can't say I achieved any of these goals fully. But 1) I have put stronger "filters" in place. I no longer am buying anything that looks good. E.g., a pair of white lug-soled boots. Very cool but too techno for my desired style. 2) I do have empty bins in my closet now, but there are still 5 full ones in my mum's basement... on the other hand, there were like 20 originally. 3) Ok, I haven't been good about buying basics (except thermals), but I did actually visit the tailor.

As for my 2014 "thoughts," I wasn't able to find very many items on my buy list (and I bought a whole lot more that weren't on it). I wanted some red suede wedges, a finely pin-striped brown suit (I know, tall order), culottes, a midi skirt, and some more two-piece dresses/coordinates.

Looking back, I discovered I absolutely hate myself in lavender and my mini-fad flirtation with blush is pretty much over (except for one great sweater).

In 2015, I think I'll be on the search for dark reds. I've fallen into a palette, have I mentioned?, of black, grey, and red... with the occasional cobalt and pine green.

1. Figure out if I want to have a wardrobe of mostly gray and other neutrals or if that is mostly my mood right now.

2. Figure out if I want color in S/S, or also go mostly neutral then but in paler gray.

3. Are button shirts a passing fancy for me?

My style goals:

1) Finish making the various pieces that I want to be wearing [for example, I get excited about things I see in the fashion shows, and then get frustrated because those things never end up in shops, or if they do, not for many years]
2) Continue tracking how successful each outfit is in all the usual respects [I find keeping detailed written records really helpful this respect]
3) Continue working on making every outfit in my "conservative smart" capsule feel authentic for me [I used to hate that capsule but since I started applying my creativity to the problem the happiness factor has gone up so much that I sometimes wear such an outfit in everyday life!]

Wardrobe goals:
1) Continue pruning (and use the holding zone method to avoid regrets)
2) Buy no more than 10 new pieces in 2015, including footwear!
3) Step away from the shoes!
