Gravlaks-ricotta-fresh dill-stuffed puff-pastry rolls (sort of like Gryffin's palmiers), and black sweater dress with opaque black tights and Fluevog riding boots -- if we go to a friend's, who's very last-minute about holidays.

Or a lemper ayam production party of two for appetizer, main meal and mostly the freezer, in loungewear -- if it's just us.

No idea what I'm wearing, I just ordered the turkey! Easy dip recipe for you if you're a carnivore. One tube spicy ground sausage (Jimmy Dean), one block cream cheese, one can Rotel tomatoes. Brown the sausage and add the cream cheese and Rotel. Serve with tortilla chips. Easy and tasty. Sometimes we serve smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers. Even easier.

Here's what I am wearing. I am hosting about 8 guests so need to be comfy to cook. As for the appetizer, I always make baked Brie (cut a rounds of brie, put a layer of cranberry sauce in the middle, wrap in crescent roll dough).

Brewer's yeast flavored popcorn! DH is the monarch of the menu so that is the best I can come up with.
The clothes are more interesting - We are hosting 14 (6 adults) for Thanksgivingkah (because it coincides with Chanukah this year) and I plan to wear dressy pants because usually I wear skirts or dresses on holidays, but chanukah is not that kind of holiday. Hmm, haven't decided, but maybe I will try to copy what Angie wears if possible!

Two votes for baked brie, and blue cheese with fig jam and sesame crackers! Ricotta! Cream cheese! I do not think I can wait for Thanksgiving to eat cheese

Alicat - Turkey pigs would also be brilliant for my family - they're always going on about their cholesterol.

The spicy coconut sweet potatoes sound esp. delicious, Angie... I have a sweet potato here right now... hehe.

Supercute fancy sweatshirt, Makrame!

I'm starting to think about wearing this fuzzy leopard sweater I picked up (pic below).

The sweater is cute. I would die of heat in a sweater though. I also cook. I always wear dark pants, a blouse of some sort and a fun shoe...like a "le smoking". You can get them so cheaply nowadays. I love this one, but I am sure you can get something anywhere.

Just for fun...though it doesn't sound as if you will have any , LOL :

Le brie et les figues sound divine !

Shevia, how fun. You might be inspired tomorrow. Or not at all. It's all good.

Rachy, thumbs up on the fuzzy sweater with jeans and heels. And every day is mega cheese day at the Cox Castle.

Ack, I don't want to read about all this delicious food just yet! The temptation to open the fridge and graze just multiplied tenfold...

My rules for any holiday wear at my parents is:

1. Must be a little bit stretchy and comfortable for eating dinner
2. Cannot be too stretchy and comfortable or I will overeat myself into a post-dinner food coma
3. Must be good for having two Boston Terriers and two shih'tzus jumping up and down on me with sandy paws and shedding hair. That's the joy of Boston Terriers: if you wear white, all their black and brindle hair shows up on your clothes. If you wear dark colors, their white hair shows up. They are loveable little all-purpose outfit-spoilers.
4. Must be comfortable for North Central Florida. I'm guessing temps will be in the 70's.

Which means I am not going to wear anything delicate, fragile, beaded, or dry-clean only. Pants and some sort of fitted knit top and ballet flats, in all likelihood. Something I feel attractive in, though, because inevitably, there are photos, usually when I wasn't expecting it, like, looking up while chewing a big mouthful of food and seeing a flash go off.

I'm thinking a bib and an apron! La Belle, you might get even cooler temperatures. I'm in "north" south Florida on the coast, and we're predicted to get to "only" a high of 70F on Thanksgiving day.

Just made this tonight to taste test for Thanksgiving. I cohost with my friend and this year we are expecting 24...whew!!! Thanksgiving is a HUGE deal for us, with at least two meats, and 9 or 10 sides and 4 desserts. I do most of the cooking, but I will still be the most dressed up person there. I live in an extremely casual town.

Shevia, my family will be doing a Thanksgivukkah too! I'm supposed to bring a dessert, so I'm thinking of a pumpkin cake with olive oil to get a little bit of a Chanukah shout-out.

This year a bunch of American expats in the area are getting together for a huge potluck at a rented hall, so DH and I are going to that. I'll probably just wear my typical jeans-sweater-booties combo.

My contribution to the feast is likely going to be some sort of kale dish, green bean casserole, and possibly mincemeat oatmeal cookies.

My go to is usually leggings and a sweater tunic for maximum comfort. With booties.

I usually make stuffed mushrooms, and herbed butter (chives, garlic, parsley, scallion) spread on sliced baguette, topped with wafer thin sliced radishes and sea salt. It sounds weird but it's awesome.

Rachy, I hear you. I have no idea what to wear for Thanksgiving either!

We always keep the appetizer super low-cal - carrots, pickled green beans, olives, cornichons, grapes - to save room for the main meal!

I've ordered one of the fuzzy Topshop sweaters, and hopes it arrives in time for Turkey Day. I'll wear it with jeans. This year our guest list is just my mom.

After decades of cooking Thanksgiving, every so often I break most of the traditions to keep it fun for me. This year the offerings will be slightly more healthy. We'll be having game hens en leau of a big turkey. This week we've held veggie dish tryouts. A roasted butternut squash salad with warm cider vinaigrette made the cut. There will also be a (mostly) make ahead rice/mushroom risotto, and of course, pumpkin pie. No appetizers...

Our house is still slightly torn up from the reno, but will do. And we have a lot to be thankful for!!

Mincemeat oatmeal cookies sound super interesting! Also, I'll have y'all know, baguette, butter, and radishes are my goto lunch - with cornichons

I have yet to master the Turkey. I always undercook. The one year I did the primary cooking, frankly, I did grouse instead.

I'm debating my matte-black Prada pumps. They're so fantastic, but my family is tiny. I'm tallest there as it is, and I get vertigo standing around everyone.

Mini-update: Uncle requested nothing that will crumble or flake (showplace home is the issue, I suspect). Auntie says she'll be serving crabcakes. So edamame is it.

Thank goodness, honestly. My family is famously intense in their scrutiny, one ventures into these things with tremendous trepidation. Also, I have to do my own Thanksgiving meal, which is a lot of work, because they make a 12lbs turkey for 13 people! That is not enough!! Speaking of which, I totally need to do all your appetizer recipes - they sound so good.

On the fashion front, I'm currently contemplating circus stripe jeans - the stripes are in navy and black, so not too standout. A colour clash with the fuzzy sweater, but I'm feeling mix-and-match...

I have a really weird poncho that I HAD TO HAVE (you know how that goes...). Now that I have it, I cannot style it. It needs "something" to make it work, Thanksgiving might be a nice trial run for an outfit with it.

Oh, I think you should definitely do it, Von. A poncho definitely says Thanksgiving to me.

Mander, I'd love to have your mincemeat cookie recipe, if it's not proprietary.

Von, can't wait to see your WIW shots - bet that poncho is pizazz!

BlondeAmbition, how do you make your stuffed mushrooms?

I'm wearing whatever will hide my 'meat baby'. Enter empire waist maxi dress. I have a surprise party to go to Thanksgiving evening. I toyed with the idea of trying to be cute and wear skinny jeans.

Then I tried them on...hmmm.

I'm not a fan of eating stuffed sausage, and I sure don't want to look like one either. I nixed the skinny jeans. Hellooooo empire waist maxi dress!

Eh... maybe not the circus jeans. I forgot (and I forget so easily) about the food baby issue...

After years of tweaking the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for all sorts of diets, this year's involves a tangine, pickling cranberries, pumpkin hummus and a vegetarian nut loaf. All new, untried-by-me recipes.
I need to wear something to feel confident and fearless.

I am wearing jeans. I just haven't figured out the color of the jeans, whether blue, black, olive, or deepest grape....

Go you! You ARE brave. Untried recipes. *Shivers.*

Lol, Adelfa. That's a lot of choices! I'm torn just thinking about them.

I have no idea what I'm going to wear. We usually eat outdoors - picnic in backyard with friends - but, I heard that it might rain on Thanksgiving - what's up with that? - so, that will definitely impact my Thanksgiving "outfit."

My FFBA (fast fall-back appetizer) for this time of year: go to Trader Joe's - get some brie cheese, a carton of their cranberries (usually located next to their humus) and some crackers. Dump the cranberries over the brie, nuke in microwave - serve with crackers. Easy - and delicious!

That's a brilliant appetizer, Marley!

But gosh, an outdoor Thanksgiving. I don't think in a million years I'd ever of thought of that. My family is from the East Coast. Thanksgiving is an autumnal delusion en masse. Lol. The mud football (rugby) is a little tricky, but we pretend...

We don't have thanksgiving in Australia but this is an enjoyable thread! Thanks to all who contributed!

Another vote for baked brie! One of my friends last year just dumped a bunch of jam (possibly raspberry?) over a thing of brie and put it in the oven for a while, and it was amazingly delicious with crackers, especially considering how low effort it was.

I'm not wearing anything special for actual Thanksgiving with my parents, since we don't celebrate it very seriously (we're having hot pot, mostly because it's cold, and staying in all day), but for late Thanksgiving with my old apartment-mates, I'm going to wear a drape-y, sort of sheer asymmetric Alexander McQueen top I picked up at Wasteland a couple days ago along with a black sports bra for modesty's sake and my dark blue boyfriend jeans (gotta leave some room in the waist for all that food!). Since I'm likely to freeze in the cold Boston weather in just that, I've also got a heavy leather motorcycle jacket which will hopefully keep me warm enough indoors and heavy black combat boots.

I am SO into the whole white outfit thing right now. Here's what I'm wearing:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!
