What are you not wearing this winter (/summer)?

This fall I bought a gray/black sweater from Target with an intarsia heart, expecting I'd wear it all winter...and I think I've worn it twice, maybe. I don't know why, exactly. It's a little heavy for our current weather (ridiculously warm for January, sorry polar vortex folks), but maybe it's because I don't like how it looks with plain blue jeans and with black pants it looks too formal, so I'm a little stumped.

Anyway, what are you not wearing this season, and are you surprised?

My winter skirts are getting neglected this season. Partly because it's been so cold lately that it's just not practical to wear a skirt, and party because I am finding tights so fussy these days. On the rare warmer days, I've been wearing my dresses but not the skirts (at least with a dress there's one less waistband to fuss with!) But I should make an effort since I do still like the skirts!

Leggings are somewhat less objectionable and warmer than tights but don't look as nice or sleek IMO. However, I just noticed that Nordies' is now carrying Hue leggings that are seamless, so I might give them a try.

Skirts here as well. Weather has been terribly cold. Maybe the skirts will come out when it warms up a bit.

Warm sweaters and other winter favorites, because it's been 70F for a month. I'm frustrated, and also very worried about the drought.

I also seem to have stopped wearing skirts, which were a staple for me for the past few years. No real reason for that.

Thanks for including those of us who are sweltering through summer! I haven't hemmed my coral maxi dress yet (I was deciding whether or not to, and the first hot day I did wear it and that made up my mind) but plan to tomorrow and then it should go into rapid rotation.

I too am in southern ca and it has been too warm for January, so have not been able to wear my camel coat I bought last winter.

Leather jacket I bought at NAS only worn twice. Other leather jackets bought in the past not once. Strange winter here in the Bay Area.

Jackets. I wore them a lot last year, and this year I just want a simpler look - two visible pieces, belt and shoes and nothing else.

I also haven't worn my bright colors as much as I expected too - I keep thinking that when the winter gets more bleak, I'll reach for them. And maybe I will, but we're most of the way through January, and I'm still loving my simpler color pallet.

I've actually been pretty good about wearing what I bought for winter...but I couldn't find much to buy that fit me or that was warm enough, so I don't have that big of a deep-winter wardrobe capsule. I will say that I haven't been wearing my Eddie Bauer cardigan as much as I thought I would, and it's because it doesn't fit me well--it's a little big. I loved the style so much that I was hoping I could shrink it in the wash, but no luck.

I've actually been wearing a lot of skirts, but that's because I have some heavy maxis in the closet. I can layer up as much as I like underneath and no one knows. :^) I find the long skirts warmer than pants in the winter because I can wear so many layers under them. I am petite, so it heads a bit into frump territory, but when your high temp for the day is still below 0F, frump is allowed. :^)

I'm with Angie on this: my knee-high boots are just sitting in my closet, poor things. Even on the very rare occasion I wear a dress, I grab booties.

Skirts and dresses, dressy knee high boots (still wearing my more casual ones) and booties -- because I need snow boots. Oh, and also my leather jackets and my wool coats.

I have a new black tweed boot skirt that hasn't been worn even once due to the frigid temps. I can't even conceive of wearing a skirt or dress until it warms up!

My coats and warm cardigans are not getting much wear due to the heat wave here in California.

My new green coat, sigh. Heavier sweaters. Knitted scarves.

Our days average 75-80F, but our mornings are around 50. So, I start out in a lightweight sweater with a cup of hot tea, then change to a t-shirt and iced tea in the afternoon.

I'm with Gigi - all my stuff is getting good wear. Except for my denim trousers because my outfit minimalism requires bookending and I do not have a dark blue cardigan.

Cardigans. When I was working, I belted them over pencil skirts and managed to feel smart. With my new more casual days, and because I really don't wear heels, they've been making me feel frumpy.

Leather skirts, and knee high heeled boots. It is actually too cold for either right now. I am living in the same two pairs of flat boots, stuffed with extra layers of socks and tights

Booties. It's just been too cold most days.

I can live with that, but my wearable sweater collection is dwindling. Several don't fit right anymore, one is intolerably itchy, and a couple of others just look dated and I can't force myself to wear them. I really need to shop for something better, but I've been striking out at my usual spots.

I'm not wearing my stretchy pencil skirts this winter. I guess they're a bit thin and don't play well with stockings. I thought I'd be able to wear them this winter to be honest.

My scarves! (As indoor layers, still wear them when it's cold out to keep warm.)

I now have so many blouses with detailing in the yoke area, or with colours that really flatter my face, that I find myself not wanting to cover them up with w scarf. In the past, I loved wearing my pashmina-style scarves.

My heeled shoes/boots. I am on foot so much of the time, I really only wear them on days the BF is off work and I'm being driven instead of walking.

Tights and skirts. Those have been my staples for many winters until now! This is the first year I haven't worn tights at all. I've worn skirts to church with regular hose and tall boots, but that's it.
