What Are You Hunting For?

I usually have a mental list of things that I want, and sometimes finding those things proves to be pretty difficult. I know that others have the same issue.
I just ordered some denim leggings, and now I am hunting for lightweight sleeved knit tunics to pop over them and wear on warm days with sandals. I bought this one in green with my Kohl's Cash last night:

but so far that's the only one that I have found locally that I have liked enough to buy.
What items are alluding you at the moment?

denim clams and long sleeve casual spring tops (not necessarily knit, but not a stiff button down either)

and I think that's about it right now. I'm actually going to start a 6 month shopping ban tomorrow armed with $100 cash for when I find those items or identify any other holes that might become apparent. We'll see how it goes.

well, it sounds like a good idea, but seeing it in writing has me a little nervous I feel that my spring and summer wardrobe is pretty complete so I don't want to keep buying stuff just because I see it and like it. we'll see how it goes.

Queenie that's very brave of you!

I have a few things that are eluding me right now:

1. A nice moto styled jacket in a heavy cotton. There are plenty in the stores here that are pleather (too hot and a little too bikerish) or jackets that are the drapey type (not enough structure for me and usually have 3/4 sleeves).

2. Knee high brown leather riding boots that fit my calves. Proving to be quite a challenge and I HATE shoe shopping so it's really stressing me out. Thinking about buying online!

3. Closed in wedges with a round/almond toe. Still alot of sandal & open toe type around here or just normal high heels. I'm beginning to wonder if wedges went out of fashion and I didnt notice!

4. More dresses - preferably in jersey, short sleeve and printed so I can keep wearing them through to warmer weather (found a fab one yesterday which is another post altogether!)

1. a khaki blazer that can go over everything, though I think I might have found it! I ordered one online and it should arrive soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

2. dresses that are good for the summer heat, not too revealing for teaching kids, in autumn colors, of a classic/polished style, and somewhat inexpensive

3. tops with the same requirements as the dresses

I want a couple knee-length pencil skirts in spring colors/maybe prints! Also, a polka dot pencil skirt.

White jeans. They are really alluding me! First, because the selection seems to be surprisingly slim-pickings, and also because I have heavy thighs and refuse to wear anything too tight that is white on my legs and everything is "slim through the thigh" these days. *sigh*

I wouldn't say I'm on a hunt or they are alluding me, since I haven't really looked for them. However, on my list of things I want and think I need are the following:

black moto jacket for next winter
cute hat (for camping next winter = gear)
red belt (unless another bright color jumps out at me)
booties for next winter
clogs (not sure I want white sandals now)
summer blouses and/or casual summer dresses
black engineer style boots - Frye Veronica Slouch are what I have in mind...just not sure I want to pay for them
white clams
premium denim for next winter

Ok, sorry you didn't say write a novel length list. LOL

Oh, where to start...my spring/summer wardrobe is sadly small:
white denim (I'm thinking about looking at the Kut jeans April posted recently)
a denim pencil skirt without a back slit
sleeveless woven shirts for work
more summer dresses
a polka-dot sheath dress with a V-neck
summer-weight cardigans in summer colors
several pairs of summer sandals

And that's barely hitting the highlights:)

I haven't really gotten to my summer clothing yet as it's been cool. I'm hoping to find grey leather knee-high riding boots that fit my small claves on sale.
I want a pair of cute tomato red heels that aren't too high and comfortable. I may have found something close (cherry red) in Me Too Elements.
Another item needing replacement is a swim suit. Since losing weight I hadn't tried looking until now. Any suggestions for a modest in leg and bust suit for an older woman in a size 2 or 4? I'm seeing them in larger sizes only so far.

The perfect pair of black/ gray trousers for work, I'm looking for a peg leg, slim cut, ankle length, machine washable and within budget, phew.

Comfy and cool summer dresses that are modest at the top portion.
Nude closed pump with a 2" or lower heel.
A light grey casual skirt.
The perfect black dress pump.
Casual flat, tall leather boots for next Fall/Winter.

Oh I have a list!

For Winter:
Tunics/Dresses that can be worn over jeans/leggings etc - everything I've found so far, is too clingy but I've only just started looking.

Black Turtleneck - I don't even know where to begin looking for these in my town.

Red Loafter/ Flat shoes - both winter and summer hopefully

For Summer:
Linen/Cotton Sheath style dress - pear shape = hard to find dresses - here in Aus anyway - I'd love to try one of those Target Liberty dresses or Michael Kors ones...

White jeans! I've tried on Joe's, David Kahns, the MKs Angie put in the store recently...all in all about 10 pair and I haven't liked a one.
I think part of my problem is I don't know if I should get bootcut, wide leg, straight, or skinny. Or multiple?
The MK skinnies in the YLF store were my favorite so far, so I may get them and post photos for you all. I'm wondering if my slow-to-catch-up with my weight loss head is just lying to me....
I didn't have this much trouble last year!

Black and grey trousers for work, and suiting. I just received confirmation for full-time reception work during the summer and the dress code is business formal which means I need to buy a couple more suits, skirts, trousers & blazers. We have a uniform shirt which will probably be purple.

Just recently I stopped making lists of needed items and started buying pieces that appeal to me and that I can fit into my existing wardrobe. I've come to realize there aren't many items that I "need to have", and besides underwear and bras, everything else is "want to have". My closet is full-to-bursting, even as I switch from winter to spring. I literally do not "need" anything!

It's actually been a freeing realization; shopping is much more fun because I am acknowledging that everything I am buying is a fun purchase, not a chore to mark off a list. Even layering pieces are more fun to buy; I picked up three neutral tee/long-sleeved tees from AT yesterday, all of which I could say will fill holes in my wardrobe, but the truth is my wardrobe has done just fine without them so far. Buying them was an act of enhancing my closet, and because I liked them.

I just liked them. I didn't add any other justification; I just liked 'em, the price was right, so I bought them. It was a very freeing moment.

Good point, Kristen! In fairness, apart from a couple of things for work, I don't actually need anything. I just would rather not spend the entire summer wearing the same two skirts or trousers, and that is a choice rather than a need.

Hmm, I would say a high waisted premium white denim pencil skirt skirt that hits right under the knee is what i really really want but can not seem to find. Also, simple nude closed toe wedges, 2.3-3" high. I have found a great pair, but by the time I was going to order them they sold out everywhere in my size - I guess many people shared my opinion

2 things immediately spring to mind:

1. Denim pencil skirt with zipper at back - I've never liked a denim pencil skirt on me - the zippers always bunch at the waist and look terrible. I'm kicking myself for not trying out the Boden one they sold last winter.

2. Purple BFcardie. I want to steal Kristens. I haven't had any luck finding one in Austumn season stores here. I may have to resort to online and may post a thread for you internet sleuths to help me out!

-Elasticized ballet flats that will work for the diverse range of dress codes I'm dealing with right now. I have 2 in my Zappos cart and will probably order them soon. Hopefully the elastic will actually keep them on my foot.

-Dresses! I am so picky that it will be hard for me to find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm trying not to impose any aesthetic restrictions yet because there are already way too many practical restrictions about material, fit, dress code, modesty, etc. I found a lot of great dresses at Urban but I can't afford all of them at once.

-Small blue crossbody. I checked Target and didn't find any. I like my white crossbody but it would be nice to have a colorful option, and since I don't own any blue bags it would be a great way to incorporate one.

Tam, if you're interested I wouldn't mind picking up the purple BF cardi I found at Urban for you. It was only $19. Last I checked they had a good amount of sizes. Let me know.

1. Dresses/tunics in stretch cotton that can be a wear-alone piece. I like the ones in Boden, but they are a little pricey for me.

2. Walk shorts - I found some at Limited but they are a dressy material and I want something that is a bit more casual.

3. Colorful sandals that are not flat - I think I have a candidate.

Thanks Maya but I might try and have a proper look at stores over here first. BF cardies can be hard to get right, so I'd be wary about ordering without having tried it in. I have 2 weeks off work starting next week - woohoo, so wish me luck hunting!!!

1. whie jeans straight leg, waiting for the mud to dry up before I purchase these. They will replace my white boot cut jeans that have seen better days.
2. red ballet...I'm reallly having difficulty finding any in stores. Doesn't seem to be a popular color this spring but I'm really craving red.
3. Red accessories either a bracelet or necklace
4. navy or blue crossbody

What I have purchased recently is a Kenneth Cole demin pencil skirt, striped navy & white T-shirt, a teal graphic t-shirt (my first one) grey flats, and cream scarf.

Need new plain, basic, solid black pumps for my trial calendar in June. I have a pair but they are getting beat up and I like my shoes to be pristine for court.
I want flat, casual sandals for weekend wear but haven't seen any I like.
I'd like a black suiting (not a suit)vskirt that FITS. I have one but I think it became three sizes too big overnight.

I need some warm-weather tops (have no clue what, though) and some more clams. I just bought a bunch of fabric yesterday to make a new dress and a couple of pairs of bermudas (a dark grey twill and some dark wash lightweight denim.

White jeans and/or clams/shorts - it seems the weather is heating up so quickly here, it may make sense to focus on the latter.

Cardigans - always on the list, as they seem to wear out quickly. I am having such a struggle finding cardigans that fit and flatter. Everything seems to be crew neck, and I prefer V neck. And the shapes are more relaxed, which I don't like.

Heels - not sure what I'm looking for here - I'll know it when I see it! I am fairly set for flats, so I want to focus on adding a pair or two of amazing shoes. Bright color, metallic, nude...

Clutches - I've become a bit of a clutch convert recently. Just so much easier than dragging around a bigger bag. I definitely need a black one, but I also want one in a funky bright. This isn't easy to find - scale has to be just right and I want a strap that can go around my wrist.

I recently crossed off "replacement beach coverup" with a fuschia knit dress from ATL. It's beach-worthy because the fabric isn't all that substantial and I don't think it's going to last too long!
