What are you definitely not buying?

Edited title, because oooh, I hate ending a sentence with a preposition!

I combed through my sweaters today in preparation for the season changing, and at least ten (er, possibly more) are leaving for a better home. I do NOT need more cardigans! I can't believe how many black cardigans I had stashed away. I've whittled down a LOT, but still.

The only exception I"m making is if I find one with a furry collar, like this one from this Wrap London catalog sent to me directly by the devil:

(This company is new to me and a black hole of things to covet...)

I also do not need more little black jackets. Or black anything. Grrr.

Pleated anything. Looks good on certain body types but makes my belly look bigger

Um, a 5th Halogen ponte knit pencil skirt? *sheepish grin*
At least not unless one of my 4(!) pairs falls apart or something. But seriously, I wear at least two pairs a week, so the cost per wear is working out well.
Really, the only skirt I could see adding is a midi.

Tee shirts or knit tops (unless they are very blouse-like construction)

Pumps - honestly, I do wear them a lot, but I have so many.

Cap-sleeved tops/dresses - at least, I'm going to need a DARN good reason to introduce one into my wardrobe.

Basic bras (non-sports bras) - I have plenty to last for the next year, unless my breast size *dramatically* changes. Hooray!

Cardigans - I have several pairs that I love and that will get a lot of wear, and that's really all that I need.

I am not buying anymore thin soled ballet flats. The toe box is never high enough for me and the sole is uncomfortable.

I really don't need anymore necklaces. I have so many that are just sitting in my closet, but fun baubles are one of my weaknesses!

SYC until next July -- so I'm not buying anything! Maybe a small break from SYC around Christmas if I have been good (lost weight).

Hmm, I was thinking I have too many cardigans, but found I really don't have a cropped black one... I think I'm good with boots too. I really must focus and get some fall/winter work appropriate pants that fit.
I do not need any more dresses, but find myself drawn to them unexplicably.

I just finished the first part of a major wardrobe clearout - 5 tall kitchen trash bags full vs the one or two a month I usually do. I see certain things creep back into my wardrobe even after I've long ago declared they have no place there.

1. full skirts, unless of scarf thin silkiness
2. mystifyingly, bias cut skirts
3. bulky knit cardigans or pullovers
4. sweater dresses - though I'm trying out one last firm double knit one
5. sweater coats
6. I'd like to say no more blazers/jackets nor coats but they're my weakness
7. no more western style boots - have plenty and wrestle with the costuminess
8. no more high heels without straps for getting up speed
9. no more ballet flats because my walking is done on pavement and have no car
10. nothing jersey, I just don't like it on me
11. no wrap dresses, I don't like feeling like my clothes need adjusting
12. no more oversized anything that I just love for the print or fabric because I'm going to get rid of it later because of the low armhole.
13. hopefully no more clothes that are just a little low cut for me - I won't show any suggestion of cleavage and I hate the look of camisoles of any kind, though I regret passing up the two sale camisoles that were in a menswear foulard. They might have pacified me.

A long list but it leaves me plenty of room to add other things!

Coats and outdoor jackets! I bought a lot last winter/spring. I have 1 knee-length chevron seams puffer, 1 purple wool coat, 1 mid tigh red wool coat, a ski jacket, a purple suede on the outside fake fur on the inside knee length coat, a pink trench coat, 1 short denim military jacket, 1 short gabardine cream jacket , 2 leather jackets ( bomber gray and fitted burgundy) , and a waist red jacket! Wow, so many jackets!

No more cardigans or skirts! I have plenty of cardis and I don't wear the skirts I own often enough--so I don't need more.

Can't say "definitely" but I really don't need any more clothing in black. I have a black version ( sometimes more than one) of everything

I do not need anymore ballet flats! I have plenty, and I just rounded out my collection with the most comfortable, versatile flats ever (the two-tone SW ones that Angie has).

I do not need any more military jackets. I really scored last season and duplicated.

This is what I am NOT buying:

- maxi skirts and dresses
- corduroy
- chunky knits
- leg shortening ankle length trousers
- sleeveless dresses and tops (not because I don't like them. Just have plenty at the moment).
- cardigans
- sky scraping heels
- plunging necklines
- sandals

The rest is always negotiable.

Definitely no more boots. I had a fab boot season last year (can't wait to pull them out again) and I don't need any more.

I'm also not in the market for cardigans, dress pants or blue jeans. Instead, I'm searching for colored denim in fall shades, dresses, and jackets.

No more summer dresses. We are almost done with summer and I have plenty of dresses. I may still consider buying a few sleeveless tops though since they can be worn all through the fall.

Good question. First off, I don't seem to be buying anything in my designated colours... I was trying to simplify my wardrobe and went off the rails almost immediately.

I am trying to avoid:

- Puff sleeves. Love puff sleeves a la Marc Jacobs. Do. Not. Need. Any. More.

- Bows. Love bows. Starting to feel like Baby Jane, esp. with the puff sleeves. Must stop it!

- Converse tennies. Talk about the ubiquitous shoe. Used to avoid them because of that. Saw a woman who looked so cute in hers, I bought a pair. Then another and another... With the puff sleeves, bows, and chucks -- let me tell you it is NOT cute when high school boys ask you for a date. It is scary.

- Dansko clogs. Moonlight as a baker. Have all these Dansko clogs perforce. There are way more comfy ones out there.

I had to let this question mull overnight. Right now, I don't need any more bras, PJs, or jeans - pants in general, actually. All of these categories are things that I am in the habit of picking up whenever I find something that fits and is reasonably priced, whether I 'need' them or not. And for whatever reason I've been fortunate in finding lots recently so my drawers are filled to capacity.

My list would almost be a duplicate of Angie's except for the midi dresses and skirts. I would like some of those for cold weather. No more turtlenecks either, and I'm trying to avoid wool anything unless it's absolutely fabulous.

While nothing is completely off limits if it happens to be a perfect item at a perfect price, I do not need any more summer dresses or open toed sandals/heels.

Well, I'm SYC at the moment, so I'm not going to buy much of anything for awhile (save the red blazer and red skirt on plan on buying after I make a couple of returns). But even if I have a BUNCH of money to spend, I wouldn't buy the following:

1) Ankle-length pants (I'm with Angie on this one - not my thing)
2) Chunky sweaters (don't need them in San Diego and they are not my thing)
3) Anything else that is dressy (have too much of it already and my life is casual)
4) Heels over 3" (have feet problems that make wearing them painful)
5) Faux fur vest (I would never buy real fur, but I don't like the faux fur look, either)
6) Maxi dress or skirt (I have 2 maxi dresses that I rarely wear and I'm thinking of shortening them to knee or midi length)
7) Black jackets (already have quite a few)

Even when I am done with SYC, I will endeavor to only buy a few new pieces each season and only buy truly unique items that I love or replace loved items that have worn out. I almost never get rid of clothing because it's worn out, so that will be a new concept for me! My goal is to get to a smaller and more manageable wardrobe filled with only things I love!

No more denim. I have my perfect pairs and I may have to get a job where I can't wear them, even dressed up - the horror!!! (Of course, I broke this vow when I found 2 original made in NYC Rag and Bone pairs in my size on Yoox clearance. But they don't make them any more... and the new /Jean line isn't nearly so nice!... see the thread on bad fashion habits...)
