Long cardigans. I consider myself a good, consistent and motivated editor of my wardrobe, but somehow , I have ignored the probably 6-8 long mid-thigh (or even a little longer) length cardigans (some with no buttons) in my closet . Most of them are black, with one red and one ivory. All are really nice quality and in great condition, but I have not reached for a single one in almost 2 years now.
I used to wear them to work once in awhile as they provided a polished alternative to my uniform jacket, but all of a sudden I realized how dated they seem - to me . I have never once condsidered one to complete an outfit , and have not seen any worn in a current way on my usual social media sources. The long line an open cardigan provides is flattering, that's without question, but I think it's the proportion issue now with shorter toppers over wider/looser pants.
Anyways, it was a bit of an eyeopener - one of those moments where you realize you've been looking at something in your closet for so long you're no longer really "seeing" it. I'm keeping the ivory, one black , and the red because it's such an amazing fabric and colour but the rest are going in the donate bag. Anyone else still hanging on to theirs? And how are you styling them to feel current?
I'm open to ideas.....
