What are the "white" rules for fall & winter?

I know the old rule about white after Labor Day has been de-bunked and Angie encourages us to wear our white jeans all year round, plus there are white boots and booties for fall/winter all over Pinterest and in the stores.

But what about other white items like white blazers and handbags in particular? For example, can I continue to use my white clutch and light cream satchel handbag all year round?

My two cents: I think it has more to do with fabric than color. White eyelet, or linen, or sheer gauzy material looks out of place when it's not summer. Heavier fabrics have more year round staying power. I want to keep wearing my white blazers, they give a great contrast to darker winter clothing. I love the idea of keeping the white clutch in rotation, and definitely a cream handbag can be worn year round.

I wear my white blazer sometimes in the winter, even though it is a lighter weight fabric. I also wear my sheer white blouse year round - in colder weather, I layer it under things like sweaters or jackets. I figure it's fine as long as it's warm enough.

I don't own any white footwear or handbags, but I don't see why you couldn't wear them as long as the weather/ground is not too nasty.

What Linda said. For me it is all about fabrication, not colour! Although when it comes to some COLOUR colours, I do prefer them in winter, and others in summer. Some because they look better on me personally in one season or the other, and some because my mood seems to call for them.

White is a neutral, however.
