What are the best boots/shoes to wear with slim leg jeans?

It seems that all my skinnies are really slim leg jeans or straight leg. They all fall pretty much straight down from my calves. None work well with my Frye Billy shorties or my Dolce Vita Storm boots. They are too slim in the leg to cover the boots, but bag and bunch up and out of the boot when I try to tuck them. So the only shoes that work with them are my oxfords...and I, well, my snow boots (very gearlike). Do tall boots look ok with slim/straight leg jeans or can someone point me in the direction of booties that will work?

Angie suggested Frye Taylor short boots to wear with my Gap straight legs...she also suggested slouchy ankle boots, but I haven't found a good example of these yet (or don't remember if they've been discussed already on YLF).

Thanks for the suggestion MPJ! Actually, mine aren't really straight leg...they are a bit skinnier than that. My Billy Shorties look like the same circumference as the Taylor shortie. The boot shaft shows through the pants.

They look ok in the pictures, but they are constantly coming un-tucked or bunching up and pushing out. I have to roll the pants up or they are very bunchy/pouffy at the opening of the boots. They work "ok" with the flaps up on the Storm boot (pants legs still feel loose and want to come up), but I thought you suggested that I wear them with the flaps turned down?

With the Billy shorties, if my leg is turned just so, you can't see the boots through the pants. It works, but, I was just wondering if there was a better option I was missing.

I am probably over-analyzing this. It just feels odd, particularly with the storm boots. I think it may be the wide opening of the boot that is throwing me off.

I bought some jeans straps to keep my jeans tucked into short boots and I love them! I think I learned about them on this forum. Of course I don't remember the exact website but I think it had jeans strap in the name. Does anyone else remember this? Maybe if you google jeans straps you'll find it. If I come across it, I'll post it

Thanks Lynn. Maybe I'll look into them. I used to wear them in high school to keep my pants in my boots too. I just feel sort of silly doing something that I used to do in high school.

The jeangrabbers are not the ones I got but the price is the same. My attachment thing looks like an old fashioned stocking thing and is a little hard to attach through thick denim but works great. I love them!

If I'm tucking straight-leg pants into boots, I usually just pull my sock over the bottom hem to keep them in place inside my boot. Works nicely, but I also like my pants a bit sloucher looking.

EDIT: I prefer taller boots OVER slim pants rather than under. I usually like to wear flats with these types of pants.

I am tucking Gap leans into all boots and love it! No bunching anywhere and they do not pull out of the boots.
I reserve my skinnies to wear with booties and shoes.

I HATE tucking straight leg or even skinny leg jeans into boots- even inside my socks they end up bunched up and uncomfy. It's leans or leggings only for me.

I like my pointy toe black flats or heels with my straight leg jeans

Hmm, what I thought. I need to get some leans to wear tucked into boots and some short booties to wear with the skinnies. Wow!...things were simpler when I just wore bootcuts. Everything seems to work great under them. Course...you don't see much of the cute shoe.
