What are "dressier" sandals?

I want to put together a smart casual capsule for November and December evening functions. It is summer here.

I read this post http://youlookfab.com/2011/06/.....for-women/ where Angie refers to wearing dressier sandals that can also be flat. I obviously don't quite understand the term "dressier". What exactly would a pair of dressier flat sandals look like? A few photos will be very helpful.

Maybe I also need an explanation of what dressier means in general.

This is what I see as a dressier type of sandal, they can have a small heel or be flat, but they have thin straps, a bit of shine

I think of dressier sandals as being made of:

*smooth, polished leather, patent leather, velvet, or satin fabric

*with either no topstitching or with fine topstiching that's in the same color as the shoe color

*with heels and soles that aren't chunky

In a nutshell, they have a more refined look that works well with dressy outfits. I wouldn't go so far as to say they have to be shiny or sparkly, but that's because I'm not a shine and sparkle gal.
