What about your spring handbag shopping?

So, since the shoe shopping thread was very enlightening, I thought I'd suggest handbags. I don't usually buy many handbags as shoes, maybe 2-3 per year. However, I recently discovered that I had a squillion credit card points I'd never used, and I managed to get two purses out of them at American Express. Since they were "free," I chose bags that were more unusual than I might otherwise select. Yet I think they will go with the two trends I'm liking for spring: black/white and nudes/ pastels.

Wow nice bags!

A few months ago I got a black and white satchel that I will use for spring. I will continue to use my silver clutch as well as a red tote. And I have a few clutches from last year.

I want to add one or 2 bags that will add a shot of color. Since I don't usually wear pastels, I am thinking something bright- perhaps blue or yellow- in either a satchel or a medium sized shoulder or cross body bag.

I discovered I am not a bag lady. I buy one and use it for years straight. The last crossbody I bought just for fun has been used once. But it's a darling bright blue and I really should pull it out once in a while.

I'm totally a shoe girl, but have bought zero pairs of shoes and one bag for spring. It is the coach madison sadie crossbody in quartz. I loved it on forum members and bloggers all fall, and look forward to wearing it in spring!

I also discovered through trial and error that I'm not a bag lady, either. But, I like to have a different color for fall/winter and spring/summer. I'm trying to choose a spring/summer bag right now. I'm fixated on a navy/white combo for some reason.

I'm a huge fan of MK bags; the size, internal organization, and metal FEET! Until today, I hadn't seen a blue/white MK bag that I really liked; now I'm not sure which color scheme I like better! (pics 1-2)

I had already found this Brahmin online (pic 3), but hesitate to order it sight unseen. At least there's an MK retail store nearby where I can see the Sophie in person. I can't locate that Brahmin locally anywhere.

i am totally a bag lady and i bought a bag early this spring, and i love it. i haven't decided if i will use it in the heat of the summer, may want something lighter in color.

I'm not a bag lady either but I appreciate nice handbags on others! I love your handbags. They are very lady like and modern. I carry a reddish pink fossil almost year round. Every once in awhile, I switch out to one of my Fossil cross body (one black, one turquoise.) Of course, I'm carrying my new RM these days and letting the red one take a break.

Squeeee! Ummlila, you read my mind. I was itching to start a handbag thread, but didn't because I suspect handbags are purchased less frequently by most forum members. I am a bag lady, and I've added one bag and one clutch to my collection for spring/summer. I have a second clutch (pic 2) in my online shopping cart right now.

Pic 1 is my new bucket bag in a favorite color- PINK. Normally, I detest bags with any kind of obvious branding, but I guess I'm getting over my logo aversion. I was surprised by how much I like this bag.

Pic 2 is the clutch I stumbled upon a few days ago. It's in my shopping cart to order today. I don't currently have any metallic bags, so I think it will prove quite versatile.

I love your color blocked bag, and that MK splash tote is interesting and spring-y.

pastrygirl, have you checked Nordstrom or Dillards for the Brahmin you're interested in? I know both of those department stores have reasonably sized collections if you can't find a Brahmin retail store nearby.

Like all these colors and prints. I just find it more difficult to swap out all the stuff in my bag every day to get full use out of bags. I did get a pouch I am keeping basics in, to make the swap a bit easier, though. I like the big bags so I can trot my ipad around with me for work.

Like Mo I'm not much of a bag lady either. I bought my first one ever this fall, and it's being used regularly. I did want to try something that's not black during spring though, so I actually ended up with this one below.

It's very ridiculous but useful, pretty rugged, and convenient and I feel very happy carrying it around. I've even gotten a few compliments, which is a bit surprising .

Your two new bags are lovely. I like the colors a lot!

karymk, the secret is to use it for everything. We get a squillion points on our Amex every year because we use it for gas, groceries, to pay bills, etc. The only time I don't use my Amex is if the place doesn't take Amex or if my total is $5 or less (or it's Nordstrom/Macys -- I use my store cards there). Other than that, Amex it is! When my husband first bought this house, he bought all the furniture on Amex. We flew business class to Chile from that! (Disclaimer: we pay our bill in full every month. I don't advise this method if you are not able to pay in full.)

Great bags here, lots of structure. I have bought only one new for the season so far, a sequined gold soft clutch. I'm also on the lookout for a powder blue clutch and a small structured white handbag

I am not a bag lady (that can always change though) but I did order this bag for spring/summer. It is sitting in a box in my car as we speak and I can't wait to go home and inspect it!

Great bags. Especially the Kitty bag

I have a question regarding cross-body bags.
I just bought a convertible cross-body bag / clutch (Rebecca Minkoff Finn in taupe).
When using it with the strap, should it be used across the body, or can I just use it like a shoulder bag, like we did in the past? Is there a current fashion trend regarding shoulder bag vs cross-body?
