This makes it official. I can’t have the items I want to wear, even though I have lost the weight and can picture them. I even ransacked the cellar because I thought some of them were down there. Nope. They are in the Florida storage locker, and at this point I don’t know if I can even get over there in time to get my boots for fall.

When I started putting stuff in, I had a clear system of keeping things we’d probably want over here separate from things that were probably being saved for later (like my son’s first bike) but by the end, things were packed in every which way—guys I hired clearly didn’t give a flip about my instructions.

In this pic, I’m wearing swim goggles as a bracelet, because I was en route to the pool, but my swim got rained out. Welp. Time to go back home.

Maybe use some of the money you’d spend on a plane ticket to do a little shopping if needed? That must be frustrating, though.

Carla, I’m still in FaceBook groups from where we used to live, including our old neighborhood. I can’t get over the fact that Tampa is only now mandating masks and people are questioning whether they have to wear them.

Yes, goodness, stay out of Florida right now. And if it helps at all, in my experience, the guys I hire almost never give a flip about my instructions.

I must say, it has been somewhat gratifying to note that they also don't give a flip about Mr. April's instructions. (This after years of Mr. April insisting that the reason they didn't listen to me was that I was "too nice." Now that he's around all the time and giving most of the instructions, turns out "nice" has little to do with it.)

That must be very frustrating!At least you will get a lot of wear out of what you do have and maybe an excuse to buy a new pair of boots in the autumn?

I wouldn't recommend travelling now, especially to Florida! Thing is, those things you have in the locker may feel all wrong in Germany anyway. I know you've had a hard time finding things you like there, but luckily you have at least 4-5 months before you'll need boots!
