I have found the least reliable jeans I have are Paige. I don't know if it's fabric composition, or what, but they seem to develop puckering and holes, and worn spots faster than any others.
My most durable jeans tend to be higher in cotton content. I've had great luck with Lucky, Levis, Gap, Frame, and Uniqlo (Kaihara). I do machine wash all denim inside out in cold water and hang dry.
Another thing I have found with jeans: some darker washes often fit smaller than lighter washes, even in the same cut and brand. I have no idea why... But, don't get discouraged by the size number on the label - try various sizes until you find one that works.
