My last name is on a local Canadian National Park AND Aboriginal band--THAT feels really weird. And yes it felt weird to see "Patricia" on a pair of shoes at Walmart. LOOK! Twelve bucks! LOL

I have a somewhat rarer French name, I think I met 4 in all my life. BUT there is a French doll made popular in the 70's who bare my name
http://www.maboutiquepleinevie.....coise.html

What is really weird, is that this doll was later made to have a little boyfriend. Strangely, he had the same name as my first boyfriend! ( A long time ago).

Well, those fab black & white Doc Marten Oxfords are Sara and that's extra special because they're even spelled my way

http://www.onlineshoes.com/wom.....ku=2725583

I did almost buy them - like it was fated or something - but talked myself down!

I only wish something as gorgeous as the Frye Deborah boot was named after me! I got nothin'. But really, I don't mind. I love my name and love that, even though it isn't unusual, it isn't one that retailers typically target to.

Ha, I have never seen my name in a retail usage, but I think my name is becoming kind of old-fashioned, so its unlikely anyone will connect the name with something cutting edge and stylish. Ah well.

I will console myself with the knowledge of three songs I am aware of with my name, all to amusing effect: "Jailbait Janet" by the Slickee Boys (a DC band), "Interplanet Janet" from Schoolhouse Rock, and "Dammit Janet" from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

If any article of clothing bore my name it would be a granny panty.

Angie, I can understand the problem with mispronuncation and spelling. Most of my life (and still to relatives) I was called by my middle name which I understand is French. No one could say or spell it so I switched to my given first name at school at least. I feel sorry for children who have unusual spellings and names. We made sure that our sons had well known but not too common names with at least 2 possible nicknames t pick from.

I doubt I'll ever see my name in retail!

*LOTS OF CHUCKLE*

Oh, what a fun thread. You crack me up. All of you!

Beth Ann, I am indeed "Angelique" and here is a blouse named after me too. That's unusual:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/to.....sultback=0

I shortened it to Angie, though. That's what my parents and Greg have only ever called me. But when they are cross with me, they use my full name. I am very sensitive to my real name being mispronounced, so Angie is a million times better in the US. I do go by Angelique when I lived and am in Europe though, it's pronounced correctly in that part of the world.

Mochi, not a Stones fan and never liked the song

Not a likely thing to happen to me in retail. But, I once went to work down the street from a building that had my name on it! --- a whole apartment block named for me!

Another time, I went out with a nightclub in Singapore... Then-boyfriend and I arrived at our hotel, unpacked and went for a walk to find lampposts and bins plastered with posters that read 'Who Is Amit?'

(Huh. So apparently we're a real-estate couple, then, and not retail.)

All the time People like to name their clothes Katie. Haha!

I'm laughing my head off at this...

Because no sooner did I say that I'd probably never wear Doc Martin boots...I came across some Doc Martin shoes called "Sara" (my first name).

It's a sign, don't you think?

Actually, yes, the prAna Melina top. http://www.kaboodle.com/review.....at-rei.com Weirder yet for me was hearing Arnold Schwarzenegger say my name in Total Recall.

Usually if my name is on something it is spelled Kristi or something equally different from my Christie. Angie - I get that sensitivity to your name being pronounced correctly as I am that way with spelling (or with people added an "N" ).
I did take a very touristy pic once in NYC - standing underneath the impressive sign at Christie's Auction House. That's as close as it gets - very common spelling in Scotland and UK but not so much in US.

I think I've seen a "Rachel" dress. I think I didn't like it that much...

Ha, the song IS kind of a downer.

If you go to Asia you will see creative uses of western names. For example, in Japan Hope cigarettes comes to mind.

Heh, Janet, I think you and I belong in a room with Linda, Diane, Karen, Cheryl, Susan and Cindy where we can all be passé from a certain generation together. My best grade school friend had that name and I'm fond of it.

No fashion items.

But I have seen a tin of Indian mangoes with my first name on it, and another tin with my surname! Both my names are so rare in Australia that I felt a special affinity with those tins ^_^.

ETA. "Hope" cigarettes. Thanks for the lulz, Japan!

Mochi, my son has a Knitting Nancy, and he made his own at school!

Angie, I shortened my name too for the same reason as you! My full name is difficult in English, an invite for mispronunciation.

Yep, apparently only boots and booties ( with a heel and edge) are name after me! Who knew?

Never saw mine!
Angies those pants are fabulous!!!!!

A lot of shoes are named "Bethany". (Er, that's my real name. Kimana is a name I love that I chose for use online when I was 17 years old.) Target had some a few years ago, VanEli has some, Frye even named a boot after me. (That means they should give me a pair free, yes?) Elie Tahari made me into a nice handbag, BeBe made me into a cute color-blocked dress, and Guess has named several items of clothing after me. (In case you're wondering how I know all of this, go to eBay and search for your name. Click on clothes, shoes, & accessories, and you'll see how many things come up.) Apparently "Bethany" is a pretty common clothing/shoe name, which is funny since it's not a very common person name.

At least I like almost every item I found bearing my name.

I once saw a dress or cardigan with my name in a store (expresso, a Dutch store). I don't recall wether I bought it or not. And HEMA has a line of make up with my name: "Miss Helen'.

Oh Joy not granny pants, in Scotland you have a niche market fashion store
http://www.joythestore.com/

I was tempted to buy the Hobbs Jules dress until I realised it would look much better on Angie and Laura *sigh*

So funny... I saw an item named Marianna at work today. I NEVER thought I would see something with my name on it as my name isn't that common (especially with 2 n's).

Look!

http://shop.nordstrom.com/sr?k.....wordsearch

It's not very common, but yes - the flat black riding boots I wear are "Kari" boots (from Nordstrom/BP shoes.) I was tickled!

No fashion items for me. At least I don't think so.

But my brother uses an Android app named Astrid. It's for to-do-lists. I'm still telling him what to do even though I moved out already!

There was once a J. Crew "Darla" top...I definitely tried to use the fact that we had the same name as a reason that I had to have it (as if I don't make enough excuses to buy stuff from that store anyway.) But I somehow didn't get around to it, or maybe it sold out.. was still fun to see, though.

Another possibility for those with names both common and obscure: the nail polish company Zoya uses women's names for all their colors -- you may find one named for you!

How fun! I just saw these sandals at Target bearing my name.

http://www.target.com/p/Women-.....A-13817283

I called my husband over to see. Is it a great marketing strategy? Have any of you been swayed to buy something just because it was named after you? I have to admit I gave the sandals a second look after my name caught my eye.
