I hope it's ok to join in on these threads - they help
Me? Well, I just battled a bad case of the flu for the past week and a half. Mostly all better now, still some lingering sort of 'cold' symptoms. This meant some minor off plan eats, owing to not feeling like cooking proper meals. I'm up a couple of pounds from the low I saw about two weeks ago.
I've also now missed almost two full weeks of gym-going. I was pretty sick, and there was no going out. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to hit the gym again tomorrow morning - we'll see. So, when life throws you a curveball - you have to be sort of flexible about things - right? I mean, I stayed 'mostly' on plan but zero exercise and not the best menus, that's for sure. It was 'whatever works' and literally forcing food on myself when I felt particularly ill.
Today? Well, I'm going to make certain I have a big salad for lunch. There's something magical about filling up on lots of vegetables. The more vegetables I eat, the more weight I lose. Of course, there's protein and good fats in there too...but veggies are kinda 'magic' for me. They keep me away from the other stuff too. So, it's all good.
Speaking of shoes - I'd forgotten about this. I ended up with some knee pain shortly after buying some new gym shoes. At first, I didn't realize it was the shoes, but then later on - remembered that years ago, when I used to run a lot, I had to go and get shoes for people who 'overprontate' and had to go to a specialty running store for all this. It was like, "Aha! I still need proper shoes". So, that's on the agenda too - need new shoes. The ones I bought are okay for weight training, but not necessarily for long walks or long stints on the elliptical.
I think anyone who exercises regularly should replace their shoes at least every six months if possible. Runners might need to do it even sooner. Oddly though, we don't think of this as we slowly become 'exercisers' and lose weight etc. We don't think of ourselves as serious athletes or that we'd need new shoes all the time. Interesting isn't it?
Ok - off to check my so-called BMI, even if it's not the ideal for exact goal-setting (that thing can't account for new muscles being built!). But, I'm curious as to where I am, generally.
