I was hoping that you all might share your opinion on this question: my cousin is having a "wedding celebration" in a few weeks. The wedding and the celebration are not on the same day, but she will be wearing a wedding dress to the celebration. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and will be held in a banquet hall-type space.
My mother is having trouble finding a dress for the event, and was hoping she might be able to wear a skirt and twinset combination. The entire outfit is from Ann Taylor. I can't find the exact skirt on the website, but it is the same cut as this one:

And the twinset is one with a silk shell and then a matching shrug over it.
Is this too casual? It looks very together when she wears it, but I'm worried it might not be dressy enough. Also, to the extent that any of you have suggestions for a cute dress for her, feel free to include them. She's five feet tall, wears a size four, and is an hourglass with a defined waist, but a little bit of a belly as well. She won't wear sleeveless or cap sleeves--she refuses to show her upper arms.
As for responses, I'll check in. I leave for France tomorrow (yay!) so I might not be able to respond thanking everyone ASAP. And I'll let you all know if my assessment of Parisian fashion jibes with Angie's when I get back!
