These subjects may not seem to be related at all, but work with me for a second.

I've recently had the penny drop on the subject of seasonally appropriate footwear. My shoe collection is by far the weakest element of my wardrobe, and I suddenly realized I didn't really have a transitional shoe for spring! Oh sure I had ballet flats, but since I prefer to wear a low heel when I can, this finally struck me as a huge oversight! When Angie made mention of silver wedges, my plan crystallized -- a metallic pump to work equally well with lighter pants or skirts and dresses was something my wardrobe needed, and needed now. The search proved highly, highly frustrating. Did you know that most Canadian stores have stopped carrying the ubiquitous metallics of last year? There was taupe in abundance, but I wasn't feeling that (my snake print sandals fill that void). Anything that was in the right colour either had a stiletto heel )which I can't walk in) or was too narrow for my wide feet.

So for a lark, I entered a pricy shoe store that I'd never set foot in before...and promptly found pumps in the right shade, with the right heel height, and with the most unbelievable comfort factor ever. Ever. The shoe in question is attached in pic 1. I know they're extremely classic and may not light everyone's fire, but I decided to roll the dice on them because I could picture them working very, very easily with my style. Plus all those other variables that I mentioned. I can return them, however, so if you're violently opposed to them, please speak up. Also, have you ever bought investment shoes? Were they worth it?

Once my heart palpatations at the price subsided, I turned my attention to the wedding shower I have to attend tomorrow -- and promptly came up with an outfit based on the new shoes. Does the outfit in pic 2 look alright, and if not, what would you change?
Yellow blouse, patterned grey/black/yellow skirt, nude microfishnets, the pewter pumps, champagne gumball pearls, white bag.

For reference, pic 3 shows another type of outfit I would unhesitatingly wear with the new pumps. This outfit, incidentally, features a grey pearl necklace that was a gift from Maya! 1, 2, 3, YAY Maya, YOU'RE THE BEST!

Last but not least, I found something I'd always wanted, i.e. a structured silver clutch. Since I have three weddings and an industry function to attend in the next three months, I took it.

Any and all comments welcome, on any of these wildly disporate subjects!
