Wedding Outfit with pants, please help

Hello!

I'm looking for some sort of wedding outfit with pants (perhaps slim silky crop/ankle pants? fancy leggings?) with a very dressy top. I'm opened to other suggestions that are not a dress. Or should I look for a tunic top/ tunic dress, mini dress that can have pants added to it?
This is for an Indian wedding, so it cannot be all black, all white, nor any red (bride will be wearing traditional red Indian dress). A colorful combo would be great, but at this point I just want to look presentable.
My body type is weird, I'm overweight, with most of it around my tummy/thighs (my knees to feet are skinny and elbows to hand are also skinny). I feel like an apple with toothpicks for arms and legs. I tried on some outfits, and I need a size 16 for my waist, but then around my arm and shoulders a size 14 fits better).

For occasions like this I go with Eileen Fisher separates. Slim silk pants. Or wider silk ankle crops. A silk tunic or dress over the pants. Her a-line and cocoon shaped dressspes and tunics are Apple-friendly, and elegant. Add a silk topper, either long or cropped. She has a new color in stock now, if black or bone won't do. It's called cobblestone. I think Nordstrom has these pieces now. Haven't mastered finds yet...

Are you trying to imitate a shalwar kameez? If so, shopping at an Indian store or on-line might be best. Is there a specific request that you wear pants? In my experience, a mid-calf length or maxi dress would be ok as long as you cover-up your chest, shoulders, and arms. Or, maybe a site like eShakti could help you out--I've no experience ordering from them, but they are willing to customize many features of their designs and they sew per your measurements. http://www.eshakti.com

What will the climate be like? Would any dressy tunic do with silky pants underneath? Like you I'm much skinnier in the arms and legs than around the middle so elastic waist pants that are hidden by a tunic or short dress are my go-to and I do have dressy ones if needed. The length of the tunic or dress can be important proportion- wise I find. Your height makes a difference. I'm short with short legs so slightly shorter tunics can look better so long as I'm happy they don't ride up too much when sitting down.
