wedding outfit - topper and 2 alternate shoes

Sorry there have been so many of these posts!

Here is the topper I ordered. It has some creases still from coming in the mail. The front drape feature is new to me and I don't quite know how it is supposed to look

Is it better done up or not?

Also showing 2 different shoes - my non wedge sandals that I already own and the non-Angie approved (for the wedding) new cream wedges

Anne, we can't really see your silvery shoes; or at least I can't. They are cut off. Do you have time (or energy) for another picture? (So frustrating, I know) .

I am unsure about this topper. I like the white and blue together; very crisp on you. But I am wondering if this is the right style. The dress already has a ruffle, which this may be competing with. It looks as if it fits at the shoulder, but it appears large in the torso. And the sleeves look long, although I'll bet with your sewing talent you could fix that.

I am not much help here, am I.

I know DH did cut out my feet in some of the silver shoes pics but he isn't here to take any more now. There are there in pic 1 and I'll add the stand alone ones I put in yesterday's post.

i like the whole vibe. the jacket tones it down for the ceremony and increases the formality a touch, then off comes the jacket and boom! it's a party.

I think I prefer the silver sandals:) The jacket is gorgeous, where is it from? I see what Suz is saying but I am not sure it's a deal breaker. And bj makes an exellent point about the outfit taking you from ceremony to reception.

Hi again Anne. I love the silver sandals, they are very pretty, show off your fab legs to perfection, and look terrific with the dress.
I do feel like Suz that the jacket is somewhat bulky for the outfit - especially when you team it with the very light airy feel of those dainty silver sandals.To my eye this jacket would feel more balanced with chunkier footwear e.g. shooties. I really like the waisted silhouette of your dress, so my bias runs towards a jacket which would fit more closely and maintain the outline of your figure when undone - see the video in the link below. But then, I can always be counted on to argue that a nice figure shouldn't be camouflaged

The full-length sleeve length also reads a tad "cold-weather" to me; I have a feeling that a 3/4 length sleeve would probably look both more summery and more dressy, as well as reducing the overall volume of the jacket. Could you try pushing the sleeves up, and maybe posting another pic? As Suz says, if you decide to keep the jacket, you could get the sleeves taken up; say to the length of the jacket hem.(BTW, you could also consider getting it taken in at the back of the waist as well; see the side view pic - it is a bit short-waisted on you. I nearly always have this problem with tops and jackets, so this alteration is one of my standard tweaks.)

My first reaction was that I loved the jacket. Then I saw the second picture, and they beautiful waist detailing, and thought it was such a shame it was covered. I do agree that this has potential for going from ceremony to party quite nicely. Can we see some pictures with the sleeves scrunched?

Anne, gorgeous dress-and I would go with silver shoes(or sandals).The jacket has a fab draping(and yes, it's always a trouble fitting jacket over draped dresses) but I think this one has a draping wich match and complete somehow the draping on the dress. I like it left open, or closed, too-but I would really consider alterring the sleeves to 3/4 and taking in the waist at back a bit, as others mentioned-especially if you choose sandals, which are so summery!

back to chime in...altering the sleeve to 3/4 length as lyn suggested would dramatically lightened the whole jacket look. we will see some skin to balance out the bare legs.

I vote silver shoes! Paint your toes silver too

The long sleeves on the jacket are a little heavy, but shortening them could work!

I prefer the silver shoes. Not sure about the jacket, it seems like maybe it's a little too voluminous/bulky for the dress. Plus it covers up the pretty front/top of the dress too much.

The issue with the silver shoes isn't whether they are wedding suitable ( they were bought to wear to another wedding) but if, seeing they aren't wedges, they will be okay in a garden setting (with a layed down dance floor) I think they might - and hope so.

Angie - what do you think of the jacket Lyrebirdgully suggested? And what do you think of the drapiness of this one, sleeve alterations aside. Thanks for the toe nail polish suggestions - I wouldn't have even thought of using nail polish!

I'm so impressed with how you are planning far ahead and working on every detail. You are making great progress!

I think the jacket works, but ditto to the max that the sleeves need to be shorter. That will keep the jacket from overwhelming the dress even though it's more casual. Somewhere out there in jacket universe might be the perfect jacket that has no need for any changes, but as I am experiencing in putting together one outfit myself, sometimes I envision just the right thing--I could draw you a picture of the style, length, material and everything that I think should go with my outfit, but it's not turning up anywhere, so in this case I think you've done well--the blue-silver-white motif. Not sure if I recall what the temps will be, but I think you will be glad for this real jacket and not a filmy wrap.

Anne, I like the tuxedo-esque silhouette of the link too.

That said, I quite like all the maximal draping of the first jacket option with the dress. There is something about you in ruffles, Anne - it works! Match made in heaven.

Unfrumped - I understand your thought process. And yes I think I'll be glad to have a real jacket if the weather is as it could be (so hard to tell at this time of year - I am still wearing jackets and jeans some days, while others see me in short sleeves)

Thanks Angie - well if you think it works I might just go with it!! It is on the 24th so I need to get a move on with organizing alterations - I won't do this one myself.

As for the jacket, I like it open best, so you don't lose the beautiful dress ruffles underneath. I agree shortening the sleeves would help, as would taking it in in back, but I also think the sleeves themselves would look way better if they were more slender and fitted to your arms. So I guess I wonder is all this tailoring really worth it?

Have you thought about a dressy shrug that would keep that lovely front of your dress uncovered? I did a really quick search, maybe something like this would work, and would bookend with your silver shoes? In case the link doesn't work, it's a Macys, Inc sequin knit shrug

Just chiming in to say I agree this jacket works, with shorter sleeves and make a tweak to the back. I like the ruffles-on-ruffle look - in this case I think it works.

i definitely prefer the silver shoes. i like hte jacket too but don't have a preference between buttoned or unbuttoned.
